The Fiocchi Specialty Shotgun Shells 24 Gauge 11/16oz 2.5in 8 Shot Shotgun Ammunition
24PL18 44% Off promises a blend of performance and value. Fiocchi is a name synonymous with quality ammunition, and I was eager to see how these shells held up, especially given the attractive discount.
My need stemmed from a growing interest in vintage shotguns and a desire to find reliable, readily available ammunition for my grandfather’s old 24-gauge. Finding 24-gauge shells can be a challenge. The promise of Fiocchi quality at a reasonable price point was a major draw.
Upon receiving the shells, the packaging was standard Fiocchi, clean and functional. The shells themselves looked well-made, with consistent crimps and clean lettering. The 11/16oz load of #8 shot seemed appropriate for a variety of applications, from small game hunting to informal target shooting.
Compared to some other obscure brands I’ve tried for my 24-gauge, the Fiocchi shells looked significantly more consistent and professional. I’ve previously used some very old stock and some imported brands of questionable quality. The Fiocchi shells appeared to be a step above in terms of quality control.
My initial impression was one of cautious optimism. I was excited to try them out, but also aware that 24-gauge shotguns can be finicky. The promise of a reliable, affordable shell from a reputable manufacturer like Fiocchi definitely piqued my interest.

First Use Experience
I tested the Fiocchi Specialty Shotgun Shells 24 Gauge 11/16oz 2.5in 8 Shot Shotgun Ammunition
24PL18 44% Off at my local shooting range. The weather was mild and dry, perfect conditions for testing ammunition. I used my grandfather’s vintage single-shot 24-gauge for the evaluation.
The shells loaded smoothly and ejected cleanly, a promising start. The recoil was manageable, about what I expected for an 11/16oz load in a lightweight shotgun. Patterning was surprisingly consistent at 25 yards, with a reasonably even spread of shot.
No immediate issues arose during the first outing. All shells fired without a hitch, and there were no signs of excessive pressure or other problems. The consistency was particularly noticeable, shot after shot, the performance was very similar.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of use, and about 75 rounds through the gun, the Fiocchi shells continue to perform reliably. I’ve used them in slightly cooler temperatures and in light drizzle without any issues. They ignite consistently, regardless of weather.
There have been no signs of wear or tear beyond the normal residue from firing. The plastic hulls seem to hold up well, even after ejection. Cleaning the shotgun after use is also relatively straightforward, with no excessive fouling.
These shells outperform the older, less consistent ammunition I’ve used previously. They provide tighter patterns and more reliable ignition. The difference in consistency alone makes them a worthwhile choice.
