Upon unboxing, the LensCoat feels durable, thanks to its neoprene construction. The fit seems precise, molding snugly to the scope’s contours and the weight adds a reassuring sense of protection. Real-World Testing: Putting LensCoat Athlon Ares G2 UHD 85 Angled Spotting Scope Accessories to the Test
First Use Experience
I primarily tested the LensCoat during a week-long backcountry elk hunt in the Colorado Rockies. The variable weather conditions, ranging from sunny afternoons to frosty mornings, provided a perfect testing ground. The LensCoat was easy to install and remained secure even during rigorous hiking.
The cover performed admirably in both wet and cold conditions. The neoprene material provided a comfortable grip, even when temperatures dipped below freezing, and protected the scope from light rain and snow. Initial concerns about ease of use quickly vanished, as the form-fitting design allowed for quick access to focus and zoom adjustments.
After the first day, I noticed that the neoprene had already started to accumulate dust and dirt. However, the material proved to be easily wiped clean with a damp cloth. The only real surprise was how much warmer the scope felt to the touch, thanks to the insulation provided by the LensCoat.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, the LensCoat continues to perform well, offering consistent protection. There are no signs of significant wear and tear, despite being subjected to harsh outdoor conditions. The neoprene material remains resilient and the stitching shows no signs of unraveling.
The LensCoat has proven to be remarkably durable, with no visible scratches or damage to the scope underneath. Cleaning is a breeze, usually requiring only a quick wipe-down with a damp cloth. Compared to my previous experiences of using uncovered scopes, this provides a much superior level of protection and peace of mind.
The LensCoat Athlon Ares G2 UHD 85 Angled Spotting Scope Accessories has exceeded my expectations by providing outstanding protection and enhancing the overall user experience of my spotting scope. It’s a worthwhile investment for any serious outdoorsman looking to safeguard their valuable optics.
Breaking Down the Features of LensCoat Athlon Ares G2 UHD 85 Angled Spotting Scope Accessories
Specifications
The LensCoat Athlon Ares G2 UHD 85 Angled Spotting Scope Accessories is custom-designed specifically for the Athlon Ares G2 UHD 85 angled spotting scope with a 20-60x eyepiece. It is made from high-quality neoprene, known for its durability and insulating properties. The package includes a cover for the scope body and separate covers for both the objective and eyepiece lenses.
The custom fit ensures that the LensCoat doesn’t interfere with the scope’s functions or adjustments. The neoprene construction offers protection against scratches, bumps, and temperature fluctuations. The included lens covers provide an additional layer of defense against dust, moisture, and physical damage, essential for maintaining image quality and prolonging the lifespan of the scope.
Performance & Functionality
The LensCoat excels at its primary job: protecting the spotting scope from damage. The neoprene acts as a shock absorber, minimizing the impact of bumps and scrapes. It also provides a more secure grip, especially in cold or wet conditions.
The LensCoat’s strengths lie in its precise fit and comprehensive coverage. However, the added bulk of the neoprene can make the scope slightly harder to pack in a smaller bag. Overall, the benefits of protection and enhanced grip outweigh the minor inconvenience of added size.
Design & Ergonomics
The build quality is impressive, with durable neoprene and reinforced stitching. The LensCoat adds minimal weight to the scope, maintaining a comfortable balance. The snug fit ensures that the cover stays in place, even during demanding use.
The LensCoat is very user-friendly, slipping easily onto the scope without any tools. There is no noticeable learning curve; simply slide it on and start using your scope.
Durability & Maintenance
The LensCoat is designed to withstand the rigors of outdoor use and with reasonable care should last for many years. The neoprene is resistant to tearing and abrasion. It is also easy to clean, making maintenance straightforward.
Cleaning generally involves wiping down the LensCoat with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. For more stubborn stains, mild soap and water can be used.
Accessories and Customization Options
The LensCoat Athlon Ares G2 UHD 85 Angled Spotting Scope Accessories comes complete with a cover for the 20-60x eyepiece, as well as objective and eyepiece covers. While there are no direct customization options for the LensCoat itself, its protective function complements a wide range of aftermarket accessories for the Athlon Ares G2 UHD 85 scope.
