First Impressions of Nextorch WL21G LED Weapon Light w/ Green Laser
The Nextorch WL21G LED Weapon Light w/ Green Laser promises a potent combination of illumination and aiming assistance for pistol platforms. Nextorch, a brand known for its tactical lighting solutions, aims to deliver a compact, durable, and versatile weapon light with this model. This combination light/laser system immediately piqued my interest, considering the critical role both elements play in low-light scenarios.
I was looking for a reliable and compact weapon light and laser combo for my carry pistol. It needed to be bright enough for positive target identification and offer a precise aiming solution without significantly increasing the weapon’s bulk.
Unboxing the WL21G, I was struck by its solid feel. The construction seemed robust, with a weight that inspired confidence without feeling cumbersome. Its compact design seemed ideal for minimizing added bulk on a pistol.
I was considering the Streamlight TLR-8 G and the Olight Baldr Pro as alternatives. The Nextorch stood out due to its patented mounting system and ambidextrous rocker switch, which promised a more intuitive and secure fit on various platforms. I hoped that the rocker switch would be easier to manipulate under stress than the push-button controls of competing models.
Initially, I was excited by the potential of the Nextorch WL21G LED Weapon Light w/ Green Laser. However, I also had some reservations about Nextorch’s reputation compared to Streamlight and Surefire and was curious to see how it performed in real-world scenarios.
Real-World Testing: Putting Nextorch WL21G LED Weapon Light w/ Green Laser to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the Nextorch WL21G LED Weapon Light w/ Green Laser at an indoor shooting range and during a nighttime force-on-force training exercise. At the range, I focused on zeroing the green laser and assessing the white light’s effectiveness at various distances. The force-on-force scenario provided a more dynamic environment to evaluate the light’s ease of use and overall performance under pressure.
The WL21G performed admirably in both settings. The white light’s 650 lumens proved sufficient for target identification out to 25 yards, and the green laser was easily visible even under moderate ambient lighting. The ambidextrous rocker switch was intuitive and allowed for quick transitions between momentary and constant-on modes. There were no issues after the first use.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of consistent use, the Nextorch WL21G LED Weapon Light w/ Green Laser has held up remarkably well. It has seen approximately 500 rounds of live fire and multiple force-on-force training sessions, and it has not experienced any malfunctions.
The WL21G shows minimal signs of wear and tear. The finish has proven durable, with only minor scratches appearing on the housing. Routine cleaning involves wiping down the lens and housing with a soft cloth. It appears more durable than my previous experience with an Olight.
