First Impressions of Strike King Redfish Magic Glass Minnow Soft Bait
The Strike King Redfish Magic Glass Minnow Soft Bait promises to be a game-changer for inshore anglers, specifically those targeting redfish. Strike King has a reputation for quality, and this lure aims to deliver lifelike action and durability at an affordable price. The Elaztech construction promises to withstand the rigors of aggressive strikes, and the high-action tail is designed to entice even the most finicky reds.
I was looking for a durable and realistic soft bait that could withstand multiple strikes from redfish without tearing apart. Redfish can be particularly hard on soft plastics, and I needed something that would last. I’ve tried countless soft plastics in the past, many of which have fallen apart after only a few casts or a single fish.
Upon unboxing, the first thing that struck me was the clarity and detail of the lure. The “Blue Glimmer Flake Pearl Belly” color is incredibly realistic, mimicking the natural baitfish that redfish feed on. The soft plastic felt durable yet flexible, suggesting a good balance between tear-resistance and action.
I’ve used similar swimbaits from Z-Man and Savage Gear in the past. While those lures offer excellent action, they can be quite expensive. The Strike King Redfish Magic Glass Minnow Soft Bait seemed like a more cost-effective alternative without sacrificing quality. My first impression was one of cautious optimism – excited to see if it lives up to the hype.
Real-World Testing: Putting Strike King Redfish Magic Glass Minnow Soft Bait to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the Strike King Redfish Magic Glass Minnow Soft Bait on a recent trip to the Louisiana marsh. I fished it along grass flats and near oyster reefs, typical redfish haunts.
The lure performed admirably in both clear and slightly murky water conditions. The high-action tail produced a noticeable vibration that I could feel through my rod, and the realistic appearance drew immediate attention. After a few casts, I hooked into a feisty redfish that put the lure to the test. The lure held up exceptionally well, showing no signs of tearing even after a prolonged fight.
There was a slight learning curve when it came to rigging the lure properly. The Elaztech material is slightly different from traditional soft plastics, requiring a bit more care to avoid tearing it during rigging.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of use, the Strike King Redfish Magic Glass Minnow Soft Bait has proven to be remarkably durable. I’ve caught numerous redfish, speckled trout, and even a few flounder on the same lure.
The Elaztech material is showing minimal signs of wear and tear. The color remains vibrant, and the tail continues to produce a lively swimming action. Cleaning is simple – just rinse with freshwater after each use.
Compared to other soft plastics I’ve used, the Strike King Redfish Magic Glass Minnow Soft Bait significantly outperforms them in terms of durability. It’s a cost-effective and reliable option for anglers who demand performance.
