First Impressions of EGO Fishing Kryptek S1 Genesis Large Clear Rubber Landing Net
The EGO Fishing Kryptek S1 Genesis Large Clear Rubber Landing Net promises the perfect blend of functionality and style. Featuring the Kryptek camo pattern, a large hoop size, and a clear rubber net, it aims to be a reliable tool for anglers targeting larger species. I was particularly drawn to the promise of a clear rubber net, hoping to minimize spooking fish during the landing process.
For years, I’ve struggled with landing larger fish, often using nets that were either too small or scared the fish away with their dark, heavily dyed mesh. I’ve tried various landing nets over the years, from traditional nylon mesh to coated options, but none seemed to strike the right balance between fish-friendliness, durability, and ease of use. I chose the EGO Fishing Kryptek S1 Genesis Large Clear Rubber Landing Net specifically for its clear rubber net, hoping that it would cause less disturbance in the water and increase my landing success rate.
Upon unboxing, I was immediately impressed by the net’s large size and the vibrant Kryptek camo pattern on the handle. The clear rubber netting felt substantial and pliable, suggesting it would be gentle on the fish while still being durable enough to handle some weight. The build quality appeared solid, with no visible flaws or weak points.
Compared to my old, smaller nylon net and a friend’s coated mesh net, the EGO Fishing Kryptek S1 Genesis Large Clear Rubber Landing Net felt like a significant upgrade. The large hoop offered a much bigger target, and the clear rubber netting seemed far less intrusive than the heavily dyed mesh of other nets. I was cautiously optimistic, hoping it would live up to the hype on the water.
I was genuinely excited to put the EGO Fishing Kryptek S1 Genesis Large Clear Rubber Landing Net to the test. The large size and clear netting held the promise of easier, less stressful landings, something every angler strives for. My initial impression was positive, but the true test would be how it performed in real-world fishing scenarios.
Real-World Testing: Putting EGO Fishing Kryptek S1 Genesis Large Clear Rubber Landing Net to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the EGO Fishing Kryptek S1 Genesis Large Clear Rubber Landing Net on a local lake known for its largemouth bass and northern pike. I was fishing from my kayak, targeting bass with crankbaits and spinnerbaits. The water was clear, with a slight chop, and the weather was sunny with a mild breeze.
The net performed admirably in these conditions. The large hoop made it easy to scoop up the bass I caught, and the clear rubber netting seemed to have minimal impact on the fish’s behavior. I landed three bass that day, ranging from 2 to 4 pounds, and each one went smoothly into the net without any frantic thrashing.
One of the initial surprises was how easily the net moved through the water, despite its size. I also noted that the rubber material did not pick up unpleasant odors or debris like traditional nylon nets, which was a welcome change.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, the EGO Fishing Kryptek S1 Genesis Large Clear Rubber Landing Net has proven to be a reliable and durable piece of equipment. It has accompanied me on numerous fishing trips, from freshwater lakes and rivers to inshore saltwater environments. The net has held up remarkably well, showing no signs of significant wear and tear.
The Kryptek camo handle has maintained its color and grip, even after exposure to sun and saltwater. The clear rubber netting has remained pliable and tear-resistant, despite being used to land fish with sharp spines and teeth. Cleaning the net is a breeze; a simple rinse with fresh water is usually sufficient to remove any debris or slime.
Compared to my previous experiences with nylon nets, the EGO Fishing Kryptek S1 Genesis Large Clear Rubber Landing Net is a clear winner. It has consistently outperformed them in terms of ease of use, fish-friendliness, and durability. The peace of mind knowing I have a net that can handle large fish without causing them undue stress is invaluable.

One of the net’s strengths is its ability to minimize stress on the fish. The rubber mesh is gentle on their scales and fins, reducing the risk of injury. The net also performs well in various conditions, from clear, calm water to murky, choppy environments.
One minor weakness is that the rubber netting can sometimes be a bit sticky, making it slightly harder to remove hooks. However, this is a small price to pay for the overall benefits. The net definitely meets and, in some ways, exceeds my expectations.
