Briley Benelli/Breda Semi-Auto 12 Gauge +6 Rounds Shotgun Magazine Extension Picatinny w/o Sling Swivel Review

First Impressions of Briley Benelli/Breda Semi-Auto 12 Gauge +6 Rounds Shotgun Magazine Extension Picatinny w/o Sling Swivel

As a seasoned shotgun user, I’ve always been on the lookout for ways to enhance my firearm’s capabilities, especially when it comes to capacity and versatility. The Briley Benelli/Breda Semi-Auto 12 Gauge +6 Rounds Shotgun Magazine Extension Picatinny w/o Sling Swivel caught my eye as a potential solution to increase my shotgun’s round count while adding the option for mounting accessories. Briley is known for high-quality shotgun accessories, and this extension promised increased capacity and tactical flexibility, so I decided to give it a try.

My need was simple: I wanted to extend the magazine capacity of my Benelli M2 for both range use and potential home defense scenarios. A larger capacity offers more rounds downrange before needing to reload, a crucial advantage in dynamic shooting situations. The added Picatinny rail also piqued my interest, offering a way to mount a light or laser for improved target acquisition in low-light conditions.

Upon receiving the package, my initial impression was positive. The extension tube felt solid and well-made, crafted from what appeared to be high-grade aluminum. Compared to other extensions I’ve seen, the finish was clean and professional. It seemed robust and ready to withstand the rigors of regular use.

I considered other options, such as magazine extensions from Nordic Components and Taccom. I chose the Briley due to its reputation for quality and the integrated Picatinny rail. This eliminates the need for a separate rail mount.

I was excited to install the Briley Benelli/Breda Semi-Auto 12 Gauge +6 Rounds Shotgun Magazine Extension Picatinny w/o Sling Swivel and test it out. The promise of increased capacity and accessory mounting was immediately appealing.

Real-World Testing: Putting Briley Benelli/Breda Semi-Auto 12 Gauge +6 Rounds Shotgun Magazine Extension Picatinny w/o Sling Swivel to the Test

First Use Experience

I first tested the Briley Benelli/Breda Semi-Auto 12 Gauge +6 Rounds Shotgun Magazine Extension Picatinny w/o Sling Swivel at my local shooting range. It was a sunny day, perfect for patterning my Benelli M2 with the new extension. I used a variety of 12-gauge loads, from birdshot to buckshot, to ensure reliable feeding.

The extension performed well under normal conditions. Loading was smooth. There were no initial issues with cycling or feeding. The added weight upfront did change the balance of the shotgun, requiring a slight adjustment in my shooting stance.

After the first few magazines, the magazine tube began to feel slightly gritty while loading. Upon inspection, some carbon fouling from the muzzle had settled on the magazine tube. No other issues presented themselves after the first use, though.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of use and approximately 500 rounds fired, the Briley Benelli/Breda Semi-Auto 12 Gauge +6 Rounds Shotgun Magazine Extension Picatinny w/o Sling Swivel has held up impressively well. There are only minor signs of wear on the finish near the muzzle end, which is to be expected.

The extension remains structurally sound, showing no signs of bending or loosening. Cleaning involves simply wiping down the tube with a solvent after each range session. Re-applying a light coat of oil helps to prevent rust.

Compared to my previous experience with a cheaper magazine extension from an off-brand manufacturer, the Briley outperforms it significantly. The Briley is much more durable and provides consistent performance.
