First Impressions of Duel Hardcore Shad SR 60SF 60mm, 2.37ft
The Duel Hardcore Shad SR 60SF 60mm, 2.37ft is a small, shallow-running shad bait designed to entice strikes in pressured waters. Manufactured by Duel, a company with a solid reputation, this lure promises to be a valuable addition to any angler’s arsenal, especially those targeting bass, trout, or panfish in shallow environments. Its compact size and shallow running depth caught my eye, offering a finesse approach that I hoped would excel where larger lures spooked fish.
My fishing often takes me to clear, shallow lakes and streams where larger lures are simply too aggressive. I needed a lure that could subtly entice fish without creating a commotion. I had been searching for a shad that would allow me to target those finicky fish, particularly in the spring when they are cruising the shallows and are a little picky about what they want to eat.
Upon receiving the Duel Hardcore Shad SR 60SF 60mm, 2.37ft, I was immediately struck by its realistic design. The lure’s finish, especially the Ghost Pro Blue color, looked incredibly lifelike, mimicking the appearance of a juvenile shad. The build quality felt solid, and the hooks appeared sharp and durable.
Compared to my usual go-to, the Rapala Original Floater and the Yo-Zuri 3D Minnow, the Duel Hardcore Shad SR 60SF 60mm, 2.37ft is significantly smaller and designed to run shallower. I chose the Duel because of its specific shallow-running capabilities and the promise of a more subtle presentation than the others could offer. I was hoping for a more refined bait that could mimic the movements of a distressed baitfish that has naturally come injured, which would result in an easy meal for those fish.
My initial impression was one of cautious optimism. The lure looked great, but I was eager to see how it performed in the water. This is an exceptional bait that has the potential to be a key component of my tackle box.

The lure performed exceptionally well, even in slightly windy conditions. It maintained its running depth consistently and exhibited a tight, enticing wobble that mimicked a fleeing baitfish perfectly. The action was enhanced in the wind, as the slight chop made the bait look even more realistic.
The lure was easy to use right out of the package and required no adjustments. I didn’t experience any issues with line twist or snagging, allowing me to focus on my presentation. However, the small size of the lure made it a bit challenging to cast accurately in strong winds, but that is to be expected.
