Team Wendy EXFIL Goggle Post Kit Review

First Impressions of Team Wendy EXFIL Goggle Post Kit

The Team Wendy EXFIL Goggle Post Kit promises a streamlined and secure method for attaching goggles to the EXFIL helmet platform, a feature I’ve long sought for my own tactical and outdoor pursuits. Team Wendy is a name synonymous with quality and innovation in head protection, and this kit aims to extend the functionality of their already impressive helmets. This isn’t just another accessory; it’s a potential game-changer for maintaining clear vision in demanding environments.

My journey to this specific product stemmed from countless frustrating experiences with goggle slippage during rigorous training and operations. Traditional goggle straps, while functional, often interfere with helmet stability and communication headsets. I needed a robust, low-profile solution that wouldn’t compromise the integrity of my Team Wendy EXFIL LTP helmet.

Upon receiving the kit, I immediately noticed the robust construction and thoughtful design. The posts are crafted from what appears to be high-grade stainless steel, finished in a non-reflective black. The included hardware looked precise and durable, inspiring confidence in its ability to withstand harsh conditions. The kit felt purpose-built, not like an afterthought.

Compared to universal goggle clips or improvised attachment methods, the Team Wendy EXFIL Goggle Post Kit offers a dedicated and integrated solution. Many similar products rely on adhesive or flimsy plastic clips that are prone to failure. This kit, with its screw-on attachment, seemed far more reliable than the Revision goggle attachment system I’d previously experimented with and infinitely more durable than the elastic loops some manufacturers provide. I chose this over others primarily for its promises of rock-solid security and seamless integration with my existing helmet.

My initial reaction was one of cautious optimism. I was excited about the potential improvement in goggle security and comfort, but also wary of any potential complications during installation or issues with long-term durability. The Team Wendy reputation instilled confidence, but the real test would be in the field.

Real-World Testing: Putting Team Wendy EXFIL Goggle Post Kit to the Test

First Use Experience

My first field test of the Team Wendy EXFIL Goggle Post Kit took place at a multi-day tactical training exercise at a remote outdoor range. The terrain was varied, including dense woodland, open fields, and a dusty urban simulation area. Temperatures fluctuated from cool mornings to hot afternoons, providing a good spectrum of environmental challenges.

The goggle posts performed admirably throughout the training. Once installed, they provided a rock-solid attachment point for my Revision Desert Locust goggles. There was absolutely no slippage or movement, even during dynamic movements and rapid transitions.

The ease of use was immediately apparent. The goggles snapped on and off the posts quickly and securely, allowing for rapid adjustments based on changing light conditions. There was a very short learning curve and, once the goggles were positioned correctly, I had no issues. My previous goggle setup required constant adjustment.

One minor surprise during initial use was the slightly increased pressure on the sides of my head due to the goggle straps being routed through the posts. However, this was easily remedied by adjusting the tension of the helmet chinstrap and repositioning the goggles slightly. It was a small adjustment for an improvement in the security.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of regular use, the Team Wendy EXFIL Goggle Post Kit has proven to be exceptionally durable and reliable. It has been subjected to intense physical activity, including close-quarters combat simulations, rappelling, and vehicle operations. The goggle posts have remained securely attached to the helmet without any loosening or signs of stress.

Despite exposure to mud, dust, rain, and extreme temperatures, the kit shows no signs of wear or corrosion. The stainless-steel construction has held up remarkably well, proving its resilience in harsh environments. I’ve used it while hunting, hiking, and at the range.

Maintenance is straightforward. A quick wipe down with a damp cloth is usually sufficient to remove any dirt or debris. Periodically, I check the tightness of the screws, but they have consistently remained secure. Regular application of CLP to the screws can prevent them from seizing.

Compared to my previous experiences with improvised goggle attachment methods, the Team Wendy EXFIL Goggle Post Kit represents a significant improvement in reliability and performance. It outperforms traditional goggle straps in terms of stability and comfort and surpasses other aftermarket solutions in terms of durability and ease of use. The difference is night and day.
