First Impressions of Safariland Model 7378rds 7ts Als Concealment Paddle & Belt Loop Combo Holster For Cz P10f W/ Light 7378RDS-49219-412
The Safariland Model 7378rds 7ts Als Concealment Paddle & Belt Loop Combo Holster For Cz P10f W/ Light 7378RDS-49219-412 is designed for concealed carry of a CZ P10F with a weapon light and red dot sight. Safariland is a trusted name in law enforcement and tactical gear, and this holster promises both security and quick access. It features the Automatic Locking System (ALS) and is constructed from their proprietary Safariseven material, known for its durability.
After years of relying on Kydex holsters, I was looking for something that offered a bit more protection for my firearm’s finish. I needed a holster that was compatible with both a weapon-mounted light and a red dot sight, and offered a secure retention system for peace of mind during everyday carry. The Safariland 7378RDS seemed to tick all the boxes, promising a blend of security, durability, and compatibility in a comfortable package.
Unboxing the Safariland 7378RDS, I was immediately impressed by the build quality. The Safariseven material feels incredibly robust, and the ALS system engages with a reassuring click. The holster felt surprisingly lightweight for its size, especially considering it’s designed to accommodate a full-size pistol with attachments.
Compared to some of my older Kydex holsters, the Safariland felt more refined, with smoother edges and a more thoughtfully designed paddle. I’ve used Blackhawk and Vedder holsters in the past, but neither offered the same combination of light/optic compatibility and active retention in a similar package. I was cautiously optimistic, hoping that the on-paper specs would translate into real-world performance.
My initial impression was excitement mixed with a touch of apprehension. I was eager to see how the ALS system performed under stress, and whether the Safariseven material lived up to its durability claims. Only time and rigorous testing would tell if the Safariland 7378RDS would become my new go-to concealed carry holster.
Real-World Testing: Putting Safariland Model 7378rds 7ts Als Concealment Paddle & Belt Loop Combo Holster For Cz P10f W/ Light 7378RDS-49219-412 to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the Safariland 7378RDS at my local shooting range, focusing on drawing and re-holstering drills. I wanted to get a feel for the ALS system and ensure a smooth, consistent draw stroke. The holster performed flawlessly, with the ALS releasing easily with my thumb and the pistol clearing the holster quickly.
I ran the holster through its paces during several range sessions, including drills in varying weather conditions. Even with sweaty hands or light rain, the Safariseven material provided a secure grip and the ALS remained easily operable. I found that a slight adjustment to my thumb placement was necessary to ensure consistent ALS disengagement, but after a few repetitions, it became second nature.
The only initial issue I encountered was a slight “break-in” period for the ALS system. Initially, the release required a bit more force than I expected, but after about 50 draws, it smoothed out considerably. Overall, the first use experience was overwhelmingly positive, instilling confidence in the holster’s performance and security.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, the Safariland 7378RDS has proven to be incredibly durable and reliable. I’ve carried it daily, both on and off duty, and it shows virtually no signs of wear and tear. The Safariseven material has resisted scratches and abrasions remarkably well, maintaining its original appearance.
Maintenance is minimal; I simply wipe down the holster with a damp cloth every few weeks to remove dust and debris. I have not experienced any issues with the ALS system malfunctioning or the Safariseven material degrading over time. The Safariland 7378RDS has consistently outperformed my expectations, proving to be a worthy investment.
Compared to my previous experiences with Kydex holsters, the Safariland offers superior comfort and weapon protection. The Safariseven material is less abrasive on my firearm’s finish, and the contoured paddle distributes weight more evenly. It definitely outperforms similar holsters I’ve used from other brands in terms of long-term durability and overall comfort.
