First Impressions of Safariland Model 6072ubl Hi-ride Universal Belt Loop SAFA-6072UBL
The Safariland Model 6072ubl Hi-ride Universal Belt Loop SAFA-6072UBL might seem like a simple piece of kit, but for anyone who carries a firearm or other duty equipment on their belt, it’s a crucial component. Safariland is a trusted name in law enforcement and tactical gear, known for its durability and reliability, and this belt loop is no exception. I was eager to see if this seemingly basic piece of hardware could live up to the Safariland reputation.
I’ve been running a mid-ride holster setup for years, finding it the best compromise between accessibility and comfort. But lately, the pressure on my hip bone during extended wear, especially during long training days or patrols, became unbearable. I needed a solution that would raise the holster slightly and eliminate that direct pressure point, without sacrificing the speed of my draw.
The Safariland 6072UBL arrived in a simple plastic bag, which is typical for accessories like this. My initial impression was that it’s a solid piece of molded polymer, seemingly built to withstand serious abuse. The FDE Brown color was consistent and matched other gear in my setup.
I’ve used belt loops from Blackhawk and Uncle Mike’s in the past, but they always seemed flimsy or didn’t offer the ride height I needed. I chose the Safariland 6072UBL because I trust Safariland‘s reputation for quality and durability, and I was specifically looking for a hi-ride option designed to eliminate hip bone pressure. I also liked the universal compatibility with any holster using the standard three-hole pattern.
My first impression was positive; the 6072UBL felt much more robust than other belt loops I’ve used. I was cautiously optimistic that it would solve my hip bone pressure issue and improve my overall comfort while carrying.
Real-World Testing: Putting Safariland Model 6072ubl Hi-ride Universal Belt Loop SAFA-6072UBL to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the Safariland 6072UBL at a three-day defensive pistol course focused on dynamic movement and close-quarters combat. This course provided a challenging environment to assess the loop’s stability and comfort under stress. The weather was hot and humid, conditions that often exacerbate discomfort from gear.
The 6072UBL performed remarkably well. The hi-ride position lifted the holster just enough to completely alleviate the pressure on my hip bone, even during periods of extended standing and movement. I experienced no discomfort or pinching, and the holster felt secure and stable throughout the day.
Installation was straightforward, attaching easily to my existing Safariland ALS holster. I appreciated the snug fit on my duty belt; there was no excessive play or wobble. I didn’t anticipate such a dramatic improvement in comfort and stability from such a simple piece of equipment.
Extended Use & Reliability
After three months of regular use, including weekly range sessions, monthly tactical training, and occasional security details, the Safariland 6072UBL is holding up exceptionally well. There are no signs of cracking, bending, or deformation in the polymer. The FDE Brown color has remained consistent, showing no signs of fading or discoloration.
The 6072UBL has proven to be remarkably durable. I’ve subjected it to significant stress and impact during training, and it has shown no signs of weakness. It still locks securely onto my duty belt, providing a stable and reliable platform for my holster.
Maintenance is minimal; I simply wipe it down with a damp cloth occasionally to remove dirt and grime. The 6072UBL is a significant improvement over my previous mid-ride setup. The hi-ride position has made a world of difference in terms of comfort, and the Safariland quality ensures it will hold up for years to come.
