Ameristep Pro Series Extreme View Blind Review

First Impressions of Ameristep Pro Series Extreme View Blind

The Ameristep Pro Series Extreme View Blind promises to be a game-changer for hunters seeking a spacious, versatile, and undetectable ground blind. Manufactured by Ameristep, this blind boasts one-way, see-through mesh, a generous pentagon footprint, and a host of features designed to maximize concealment and comfort. I’ve spent over a decade in the field, and I’m always on the lookout for gear that offers a tangible advantage.

My quest for the Ameristep Pro Series Extreme View Blind stemmed from a recurring problem: cramped ground blinds that limited movement and visibility, especially when hunting with multiple people. I needed a blind that could comfortably accommodate three hunters plus gear, offering ample shooting lanes for both bow and rifle. I also yearned for a blind that truly disappeared into its surroundings, eliminating the tell-tale shadows and silhouettes that spook wary game.

The unboxing experience was positive. The Ameristep Pro Series Extreme View Blind came neatly packed in its included carry bag. My initial impression was that the materials felt robust and well-constructed. The Durashell Plus fabric appeared durable and the Mossy Oak Country DNA camo looked effective. I immediately noticed the size and was excited to set it up.

Compared to other blinds I’ve used, like the Primos Double Bull SurroundView and the Rhino Blinds R180, the Ameristep Pro Series Extreme View Blind stood out due to its unique window configuration and its promise of true one-way visibility. While the Primos blind offered excellent panoramic views, it sometimes lacked concealment in open areas. The Rhino Blind was durable, but could feel cramped with multiple hunters. The advertised Extreme View one-way mesh and pentagon footprint of the Ameristep were the deciding factors.

My first impression was one of cautious optimism. I was eager to put the Ameristep Pro Series Extreme View Blind to the test in the field. The design looked promising, but I knew that performance in real-world conditions would be the ultimate judge.

Real-World Testing: Putting Ameristep Pro Series Extreme View Blind to the Test

First Use Experience

I deployed the Ameristep Pro Series Extreme View Blind on a whitetail hunt in central Texas. The terrain was a mix of dense brush and open fields, providing a good test of the blind’s concealment capabilities. The weather was cool and damp, with a light drizzle throughout the day.

The blind performed admirably under these conditions. Setup was relatively straightforward, although staking it down securely took a bit of effort in the rocky soil. The Silent-slide mesh windows proved to be a game-changer, allowing for quick and quiet adjustments without spooking nearby deer. The Extreme View one-way mesh lived up to its promise. I could see deer approaching from a distance, while remaining virtually invisible from the outside. One of my hunting partners even commented about how well concealed we were. No issues or surprises arose during that first hunt.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of regular use during both deer and turkey seasons, the Ameristep Pro Series Extreme View Blind has proven to be a reliable and durable piece of gear. There are no significant signs of wear and tear on the fabric or the frame. The zippers continue to function smoothly.

Maintenance has been minimal. I’ve simply wiped down the exterior with a damp cloth after each hunt to remove mud and debris. The Durashell Plus fabric shell seems to resist stains and moisture effectively. Compared to my previous experiences with less durable blinds, the Ameristep Pro Series Extreme View Blind definitely outperforms them in terms of longevity and ease of maintenance.
