First Thoughts on the ALLEN NEOP PISTOL POUCH FULSIZ CHARC
The ALLEN NEOP PISTOL POUCH FULSIZ CHARC is a simple, budget-friendly solution for protecting your full-sized handgun. Marketed by Allen, a company known for its affordable outdoor and shooting accessories, this neoprene pouch aims to offer basic protection against scratches, dust, and minor impacts. At a price point of just $9.49, it’s certainly an attractive option for those looking for a no-frills storage solution.
I was on the hunt for a low-profile, non-descript way to store and transport my full-sized pistol between the range and my home. Hard cases are bulky and often attract unwanted attention, while a dedicated range bag can be overkill for a quick trip. Something that could easily slip into a backpack or duffel bag was ideal, and this pouch seemed to fit the bill.
Upon unboxing, the first thing I noticed was the simplicity of the design. The ALLEN NEOP PISTOL POUCH FULSIZ CHARC is essentially a padded sleeve made of neoprene material in a charcoal color. It’s lightweight and feels reasonably durable for the price.
Compared to more structured pistol rugs or hard cases, this pouch offers minimal protection against serious impacts. However, compared to simply tossing a pistol into a bag unprotected, it is a significant improvement. Other similarly priced options might include thin nylon pistol rugs with minimal padding, making the ALLEN pouch’s neoprene construction potentially more appealing.
My first impression was cautiously optimistic. The ALLEN NEOP PISTOL POUCH FULSIZ CHARC seems like a decent value for its price, offering basic protection in a compact and discreet package. It remains to be seen how well it will hold up over time and whether the neoprene material is truly durable enough for regular use.
Real-World Testing: Putting ALLEN NEOP PISTOL POUCH FULSIZ CHARC to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the ALLEN NEOP PISTOL POUCH FULSIZ CHARC during a range day. I used it to transport my Glock 17 in my backpack. The pouch kept the pistol separate from other items, preventing scratches and dings.
The neoprene material proved to be somewhat water-resistant during a light drizzle. It did not provide complete waterproofing, but it kept the pistol relatively dry. There was no real learning curve; I simply slipped the pistol inside, and it was ready to go. I was pleased to find that the pistol fit snugly without being overly tight, allowing for easy retrieval when needed.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of use, the ALLEN NEOP PISTOL POUCH FULSIZ CHARC has held up reasonably well. There are no major signs of wear and tear. The stitching is still intact, and the neoprene hasn’t stretched or torn.
Cleaning is easy. I simply wipe it down with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or grime. Compared to my previous method of using a makeshift towel wrap, the ALLEN pouch offers a much more secure and convenient solution. It protects the pistol while minimizing any bulk or added weight.
