Allen Gear-Fit Pursuit Shocker Mossy Oak Obsession Endura 52″ Review

First Thoughts on the Allen Gear-Fit Pursuit Shocker Mossy Oak Obsession Endura 52″

Turkey season is more than just a hunt; it’s an experience steeped in tradition and demanding specialized gear. After years of improvising with generic gun cases and cobbled-together pouches, I was searching for a dedicated solution to organize my turkey hunting essentials. Enter the Allen Gear-Fit Pursuit Shocker Mossy Oak Obsession Endura 52″, a shotgun case specifically designed for the turkey hunter, promising organized storage and reliable protection.

For years, I’ve struggled with a jumble of calls, chokes, and other necessities rolling around in my standard shotgun case. The Allen case promised a solution tailored to this specific need. My initial impression upon unboxing was promising, observing the Mossy Oak Obsession camouflage pattern, rugged Endura material, and the seemingly thoughtful pocket layout.

I considered other options, including the Plano All Weather Gun Case and generic soft cases from Uncle Mike’s. Ultimately, I chose the Allen Gear-Fit Pursuit Shocker because of its specific focus on turkey hunting gear organization and its advertised durability. The others seemed too generic or lacked the specialized compartments I needed.

My initial excitement was cautiously optimistic; could this case truly live up to the promise of organized turkey hunting bliss? Only real-world testing would reveal if the Allen Gear-Fit Pursuit Shocker was a worthy addition to my arsenal.

Real-World Testing: Putting Allen Gear-Fit Pursuit Shocker Mossy Oak Obsession Endura 52″ to the Test

First Use Experience

My first test of the Allen Gear-Fit Pursuit Shocker Mossy Oak Obsession Endura 52″ occurred during a spring turkey hunt in the rolling hills of eastern Pennsylvania. The weather was typical for the season: damp, cool, and unpredictable. I used the case to carry my 12-gauge shotgun, a variety of slate, box, and mouth calls, choke tubes, a face mask, gloves, and a turkey beard measuring tape.

The case performed admirably in the damp conditions, with the Endura material repelling light rain and keeping my shotgun and gear dry. The specialized pockets made accessing my calls and chokes incredibly easy, saving valuable time when a gobbler was closing in. I appreciated the integrated turkey beard and spur measuring tape as well, making post-hunt documentation a breeze.

The only slight issue I encountered was that the box call pocket felt a little snug for some of my larger box calls. However, this was easily remedied by adjusting the positioning of the call within the pocket.

Extended Use & Reliability

After a full turkey season of rigorous use, the Allen Gear-Fit Pursuit Shocker Mossy Oak Obsession Endura 52″ has proven to be a reliable and durable companion. There are no signs of significant wear and tear, even after being subjected to dense woods, brush, and the occasional downpour. The stitching remains intact, and the zippers operate smoothly.

Maintenance is simple; a quick wipe-down with a damp cloth removes dirt and debris. I’ve been particularly impressed with the easy-to-clean interior lining, which has resisted stains from mud and other hunting grime. Compared to my previous experiences with generic gun cases, the Allen case offers a significant improvement in organization, protection, and durability. It is a welcome upgrade.
