Kansept Knives Shard Framelock CF Folding Knife Review

First Impressions of Kansept Knives Shard Framelock CF Folding Knife

The Kansept Knives Shard Framelock CF Folding Knife immediately grabs your attention with its sleek lines and premium materials. Manufactured by Kansept Knives, this folder aims to blend tactical functionality with a touch of class, boasting a 3.5-inch blade and a carbon fiber handle. Its extended tang and pocket clip hint at practical carry options. I was seeking a reliable EDC (Every Day Carry) knife that could handle both daily tasks and more demanding outdoor activities without sacrificing aesthetics, and the Shard seemed to tick all the boxes.

My search for the perfect EDC has been ongoing; I needed something more refined than my usual heavy-duty fixed blade, but equally robust. The promise of a high-end blade and comfortable grip drew me to this particular model.

Unboxing the Kansept Knives Shard Framelock CF Folding Knife was a pleasant experience. The knife felt substantial in hand, the carbon fiber handle providing a secure and surprisingly lightweight grip. The blade arrived razor-sharp, showcasing the attention to detail. The overall build quality appeared to be exceptional, with no visible flaws or imperfections.

Compared to my Benchmade Griptilian and Spyderco Paramilitary 2, the Shard presents a more elegant profile. While the Griptilian is a workhorse and the Paramilitary 2 excels in ergonomics, the Kansept Knives Shard Framelock CF Folding Knife seemed to promise a balance of both, with added visual appeal. I chose the Shard for its potential to be a sophisticated yet capable EDC.

My first impression was definitely excitement mixed with anticipation. The fit and finish were impressive, but the real test would be how it performed in the field. Would it live up to the hype and justify its $234 price tag?

I first tested the Kansept Knives Shard Framelock CF Folding Knife during a weekend camping trip in the Appalachian Mountains. The weather was variable, with periods of light rain and humidity. I used it for various tasks, including preparing food, cutting rope for the tent, and whittling small pieces of wood for kindling.

The Shard performed admirably in the damp conditions. The carbon fiber handle remained secure even when wet, and the blade held its edge surprisingly well after repeated use. The thumb pull was easy to access and operate, even with slightly gloved hands. There were no initial issues, and the knife felt comfortable and natural to use.
