First Impressions of Ameristep Grizzly 8 Pack Tree Step
The Ameristep Grizzly 8 Pack Tree Step promises a secure and robust climbing solution for hunters and outdoor enthusiasts who rely on elevated platforms. Ameristep, a name synonymous with hunting blinds and accessories, has ventured into tree steps with a focus on strength and ease of use. The extra-large 6-inch step area and impressive 1,250-pound weight capacity immediately suggest a product built for serious use.
I’ve always prioritized safety when setting up tree stands. Many existing steps I’ve used felt flimsy or lacked adequate grip, particularly in wet conditions. The Ameristep Grizzly 8 Pack Tree Step seemed to address these concerns with its heavy-duty design and large platform.
Unboxing the Ameristep Grizzly 8 Pack Tree Step, the first thing I noticed was their substantial weight. They felt solid and well-constructed, giving an immediate impression of quality. The black finish appears durable and should blend well with tree bark.
Compared to smaller, folding tree steps I’ve used in the past, these are significantly larger and more robust. The Grizzly Tree Step also stands out against screw-in steps with shallower platforms, offering a much more secure footing. I chose these over lighter aluminum options, hoping for superior stability and longevity.
My initial reaction was excitement. The Ameristep Grizzly 8 Pack Tree Step seems like a reliable and safe solution for ascending trees to reach my hunting stands, finally addressing my safety concerns.
Real-World Testing: Putting Ameristep Grizzly 8 Pack Tree Step to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the Ameristep Grizzly 8 Pack Tree Step on a mature oak tree in my hunting area. I used a cordless drill with a socket adapter to install the steps, spacing them approximately 18 inches apart.
Even with the self-tapping screw-in point, installation required some effort, which speaks to the step’s robust construction. The large platform felt incredibly stable underfoot, even with my hunting boots covered in mud. There were no slips or wobbles as I ascended.
The only minor issue was ensuring the steps were angled slightly upward for optimal foot placement. Overall, the initial climb was smooth and confidence-inspiring.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of use throughout deer season, the Ameristep Grizzly 8 Pack Tree Step held up remarkably well. There was no noticeable loosening or corrosion despite exposure to rain, snow, and fluctuating temperatures.
The black finish showed some minor scratches from my boots, but the steps remained structurally sound. Cleaning was simple; a quick scrub with a brush removed mud and debris. They definitely outperformed the cheaper, thinner screw-in steps I had previously used.
Previously, I used a mix of ladder sticks and cheaper screw-in steps. Those old methods were tedious and never felt as secure as the Grizzly Tree Step. The Ameristep Grizzly 8 Pack Tree Step offers a superior experience in terms of safety and ease of use.
