Girsan MC1911SC 9mm Luger 7 Round Pistol Magazine w/Window Review

First Impressions of Girsan MC1911SC 9mm Luger 7 Round Pistol Magazine w/Window

The Girsan MC1911SC 9mm Luger 7 Round Pistol Magazine w/Window is a crucial component for any owner of a compact 1911 chambered in 9mm. Girsan is known for producing reliable firearms and accessories, and this magazine aims to uphold that reputation with its steel construction and viewing window for round count. It’s designed to fit Colt-style 9mm 1911s, offering a streamlined profile and a standard 7-round capacity.

My personal need stemmed from frustrating range days. I’d acquired a used, compact 9mm 1911, and the supplied magazines were…questionable, to say the least, causing frequent failures to feed. Reliability is non-negotiable, and I needed magazines I could trust.

The initial impression upon unboxing was positive; the magazine feels solid and well-made. The steel body has a reassuring heft, and the Carnauba-based coating gives it a smooth, professional finish. The witness window is a welcome addition, allowing for quick visual confirmation of remaining rounds.

Compared to some generic 1911 magazines I’ve used, the Girsan offering immediately stood out for its superior build quality. I considered Mec-Gar magazines, known for their excellent reputation, but ultimately opted for the Girsan specifically designed for my MC1911SC, hoping for optimal compatibility. My initial reaction was excitement and relief; I hoped I’d finally found a reliable magazine solution.
