First Impressions of Girsan MC1911SC Ultimate .45 ACP 6 Round Pistol Magazine w/Window
The 1911 platform, a design classic, thrives on reliable magazines. That’s why I was intrigued by the Girsan MC1911SC Ultimate .45 ACP 6 Round Pistol Magazine w/Window. This magazine, manufactured by Girsan, promises both dependability and a quick visual confirmation of remaining rounds, a feature appealing to both tactical users and range enthusiasts.
I was looking for a magazine that would reliably feed rounds in my compact 1911 and also provide a way to quickly assess how much ammunition I had left. The windowed design of this magazine seemed like an ideal solution.
Upon unboxing, the magazine felt solid and well-constructed. The steel body gave it a reassuring weight, and the witness window appeared robust, not like a cheap afterthought. My initial assessment revealed a smoothly finished product, a crucial first impression.
Compared to some generic 1911 magazines I’ve used, the Girsan felt significantly more substantial. I opted for this magazine over a Chip McCormick or Wilson Combat due to its windowed design, aiming for an extra level of situational awareness. My hope was that it would offer both the reliability of higher-end magazines and the convenience of round-count verification.
I was cautiously optimistic. The construction seemed promising, but the true test would be its performance under live fire. Would it feed reliably, and would the window truly be useful?
