First Impressions of AmeriGlo Defoor EDC Sight Set for Springfield Hellcat OSP
The AmeriGlo Defoor EDC Sight Set for Springfield Hellcat OSP promises a straightforward and rugged sighting solution for concealed carry. AmeriGlo is a well-respected name in the firearms industry, known for producing high-quality sights, and these sights aim for simplicity and effectiveness above all else. Their design philosophy centers around providing a clear, uncluttered sight picture that facilitates rapid target acquisition in high-stress situations.
As someone who’s spent years both carrying concealed and teaching others to do so effectively, I’m always on the lookout for reliable, no-nonsense gear. I was looking for a sight set to replace the factory sights on my Springfield Hellcat OSP. I found the factory sights adequate, but not ideal for my aging eyes and the speed I wanted to achieve during drills.
Unboxing the AmeriGlo Defoor EDC Sight Set for Springfield Hellcat OSP, I was immediately struck by the robust feel of the steel construction. The sights have a simple, functional design. The serrations on the front sight are deep and purposeful, appearing to offer a glare-free sight picture.
Compared to other aftermarket sights I’ve used, like Trijicon HDs or XS Sights Big Dot, these appear much more minimalist. I wanted something that offered a faster sight picture than the stock sights, but without the bulk of some of the more high-profile options. The AmeriGlo Defoor EDC Sight Set for Springfield Hellcat OSP seemed to strike that balance perfectly.
My first impression was one of cautious optimism. The sights appear well-made and purpose-driven. I was eager to get them installed and see how they performed on the range.
Real-World Testing: Putting AmeriGlo Defoor EDC Sight Set for Springfield Hellcat OSP to the Test
First Use Experience
My initial testing ground for the AmeriGlo Defoor EDC Sight Set for Springfield Hellcat OSP was my local shooting range. I focused on drills involving rapid target acquisition at distances between 7 and 15 yards. The weather was typical for a Texas summer day – hot and humid.
The sights proved to be incredibly easy to acquire, even when drawing quickly from concealment. The wide rear notch and serrated front sight allowed for intuitive alignment. Under the bright sunlight, the serrations effectively minimized glare, resulting in a clear, sharp sight picture.
I didn’t experience any issues with the sights shifting or loosening after the first few magazines. I found the sight picture easy to adjust to, and the sight set worked exactly as I had hoped.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of consistent use, including weekly range sessions and daily concealed carry, the AmeriGlo Defoor EDC Sight Set for Springfield Hellcat OSP has held up remarkably well. There are no signs of significant wear or tear. The finish on the steel remains intact, showing no signs of rust or corrosion despite exposure to sweat and occasional inclement weather.
Maintaining the sights is incredibly simple. A quick wipe down with a lightly oiled cloth after each range session is all that’s needed. Compared to some sights with tritium inserts that can require more careful cleaning, these are exceptionally low maintenance.
These AmeriGlo sights have far surpassed my expectations. They provide a faster and cleaner sight picture than the factory sights, and their durability has been exceptional. They are the perfect upgrade to my Hellcat OSP.
