Pontoon boats are all about maximizing space and enjoyment on the water. The Extreme Max 3005.724 Pontoon Accessory Mount For Grill / Anchor Winch promises to do just that, offering a clever way to mount essential accessories without sacrificing valuable deck space. It’s designed to keep your grill and anchor winch safely positioned over the water, minimizing mess and maximizing fun.
For years, I’ve struggled with the limited space on my pontoon. Finding a stable and convenient spot for both my grill and anchor winch always felt like a compromise. I needed a solution that wouldn’t clutter the deck or create potential hazards.
Unboxing the Extreme Max mount, I was immediately impressed by the robust, powder-coated aluminum construction. The mount felt solid and well-made, hinting at long-term durability. Its adjustability was also apparent, suggesting it could fit a variety of pontoon configurations.
I considered other mounting options, including custom-built platforms and universal brackets. However, the Extreme Max mount seemed like the most complete and purpose-built solution for pontoon boats. Its focus on grill and anchor winch compatibility sealed the deal.
My first impression was one of cautious optimism. The build quality was reassuring, but I was eager to see how it would perform in a real-world setting. I had high hopes that this mount would finally solve my pontoon space woes.
Real-World Testing: Putting Extreme Max 3005.724 Pontoon Accessory Mount For Grill / Anchor Winch to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the Extreme Max 3005.724 on a weekend fishing trip with friends on Lake Geneva. The mount was primarily used to hold a portable propane grill for cooking our catch. Setting it up was relatively straightforward, though I did need a socket wrench to properly tighten the bolts to my pontoon railing.
The weather was cooperative, with only a light chop on the water. The mount remained surprisingly stable, even with a full-sized portable grill attached. We grilled burgers and fish right on the water, which was both convenient and a great conversation starter.
Using the grill was seamless and the cooking experience was elevated. However, there was one minor issue. The mount sits fairly high off the pontoon deck, which can be less convenient when grilling on a windy day.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, the Extreme Max mount has proven to be a worthwhile addition to my pontoon. The powder-coated aluminum has held up well against sun, rain, and occasional splashes. I’ve also used it to mount a Minn Kota Deckhand anchor winch, which made anchoring significantly easier.
There are some very minor scratches on the powder coating from grill grates, but there’s no sign of rust or corrosion. Cleaning is as simple as wiping it down with a damp cloth. The mount continues to perform reliably, providing a secure and stable platform for both my grill and anchor winch.
Compared to previous improvised mounting solutions, the Extreme Max mount is a major upgrade. It offers a dedicated, purpose-built solution that far surpasses the janky setup I previously used. The stability and convenience it provides are unmatched.
