Let’s Talk About Higdon Outdoors 31315 Blind Grass Tan 4′ X 5′ 4pk
When the leaves start to turn and the air gets crisp, there’s only one thing on my mind: waterfowl season. Decades spent in blinds have taught me the importance of concealment. That’s why I was eager to try the Higdon Outdoors 31315 Blind Grass Tan 4′ X 5′ 4pk. This natural blind grass promises to provide a realistic and effective way to disappear into the environment, giving me the edge I need to bag those wary birds.
My trusty old blind was starting to show its age, the synthetic material faded and brittle. The ducks were flaring at the last second, clearly spotting something unnatural. I needed a natural solution, something that would seamlessly blend with the surrounding vegetation, and the Higdon Outdoors grass seemed like the perfect fix.
Upon unboxing, I was immediately impressed by the authentic look and feel. The dried palm leaves looked incredibly realistic, and the way they were knotted together gave me confidence that they wouldn’t easily unravel. At first glance, the weight seemed manageable, but I did wonder about the overall coverage four 4’x5′ sheets would provide for my particular blind setup.
Compared to synthetic blind materials, this product appeared far more natural, although I knew the tradeoff might be durability and weather resistance. Against similar natural grass products, the Higdon Outdoors grass seemed to offer a better balance of coverage and ease of handling. I’ve used some jute-based options that were incredibly messy and difficult to work with.
I was cautiously optimistic. The Higdon Outdoors 31315 Blind Grass Tan 4′ X 5′ 4pk had the potential to be a game-changer, providing the realistic concealment I craved. However, I remained a bit concerned about its long-term durability in harsh conditions. Only real-world testing would reveal its true worth.
Real-World Testing: Putting Higdon Outdoors 31315 Blind Grass Tan 4′ X 5′ 4pk to the Test
First Use Experience
My first opportunity to put the Higdon Outdoors 31315 Blind Grass Tan 4′ X 5′ 4pk to the test came during an early teal season hunt in the marsh. The area was a mix of tall reeds and sparse cattails. This made it a challenging environment for concealment.
The weather was typical for early fall: cool mornings with occasional light rain. I meticulously attached the Higdon Outdoors grass to my blind frame using zip ties, weaving it in amongst the existing synthetic material. The tan color blended exceptionally well with the dying vegetation. It immediately improved the overall camouflage. The grass was easy to work with, and the knotted construction prevented excessive shedding.
The difference was immediately noticeable. The teal decoyed much more confidently, committing to the spread without hesitation. We had a successful hunt, and I attribute a large part of that success to the improved concealment provided by the Higdon Outdoors grass. There were no issues, although I did notice the palm leaves retaining some moisture after the light rain.
Extended Use & Reliability
After a full waterfowl season, the Higdon Outdoors 31315 Blind Grass Tan 4′ X 5′ 4pk has held up surprisingly well. While there is some inevitable wear and tear, the grass has retained its color and structural integrity. The areas exposed to direct sunlight have faded slightly, but this actually enhances the natural look.
Durability has been a pleasant surprise. I expected the palm leaves to be fragile, but they have proven to be quite resilient. Only a few strands have broken or come loose. I did reinforce some of the key attachment points with extra zip ties.
Maintaining the grass has been simple. After each hunt, I make sure to shake off any excess mud or debris and allow it to air dry thoroughly. So far, I haven’t noticed any signs of mold or mildew. Compared to my previous synthetic blind material, the Higdon Outdoors grass provides far superior concealment and a much more natural appearance. It definitely exceeded my expectations in terms of blending into the environment.

This significantly reduces the risk of birds flaring or becoming wary of the blind.
The main strength of this product is its realism. The natural materials provide a level of concealment that synthetic alternatives simply can’t match.
