Let’s Talk About Jebs Choke Tubes Head Hunter Turkey Choke
The Jebs Choke Tubes Head Hunter Turkey Choke is a specialized choke tube designed for one purpose: obliterating turkeys at extended ranges. Crafted by Jebs Choke Tubes, this choke promises dense and devastating patterns, giving hunters an edge in the field. My quest for the ultimate turkey choke led me here, driven by the desire to ethically harvest birds at distances that previously felt like a gamble.
I’ve missed more than my fair share of long-bomb shots at weary Toms circling just out of range. The frustration of seeing a magnificent bird strut away after a near miss is a feeling every turkey hunter knows. That is why I was looking for a choke tube that could extend my effective range without sacrificing pattern density.
Unboxing the Jebs Choke Tubes Head Hunter Turkey Choke, the first thing that struck me was its robust construction. The matte black finish looked durable, and the weight felt substantial, hinting at quality materials. The choke exudes confidence in its build.
I considered other chokes like the Carlson’s Long Beard XR Choke Tube and the Indian Creek Black Diamond Strike Choke, both popular options. However, the Jebs Choke Tubes Head Hunter Turkey Choke’s patented “multi-staged” interior bore design and world-record holding pedigree ultimately swayed my decision. This technology convinced me that it was worth the investment.
My first impression was excitement mixed with cautious optimism. I’ve been burned by hyped-up gear before. I hoped the Jebs Choke Tubes Head Hunter Turkey Choke would live up to its reputation and transform my turkey hunting game.
Real-World Testing: Putting Jebs Choke Tubes Head Hunter Turkey Choke to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the Jebs Choke Tubes Head Hunter Turkey Choke at my local gun range, using a variety of turkey loads, including Winchester Long Beard XR and Federal Premium TSS. The weather was mild, with a slight breeze, creating ideal patterning conditions. I fired at targets set at 20, 30, and 40 yards to gauge the choke’s performance at different ranges.
The Jebs Choke Tubes Head Hunter Turkey Choke performed admirably, delivering consistent and incredibly tight patterns with the Federal TSS. The patterns were noticeably denser compared to my factory choke, particularly at 40 yards. The choke made ethical long-range shots feel much more attainable.
Installation was simple, requiring only a choke tube wrench. There was no learning curve involved; just screw it in and start shooting. My initial concern about potential recoil increase proved unfounded. The Jebs Choke Tubes Head Hunter Turkey Choke maintained a manageable level of recoil.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of use during turkey season, the Jebs Choke Tubes Head Hunter Turkey Choke continues to impress. The choke tube shows no signs of wear and tear, maintaining its matte black finish despite exposure to mud, rain, and general wear from being in the field. It appears to be well made.
Cleaning is straightforward; a quick scrub with a bore brush and solvent is all that’s needed to remove powder residue. I haven’t noticed any rust or corrosion. The Jebs Choke Tubes Head Hunter Turkey Choke definitely outperforms my previous aftermarket choke in terms of pattern density and consistency at longer ranges.
