Let’s Talk About ECHO CALLS, INC 79026 DRT Ducks Double Reed Orange Pearl Acrylic
The ECHO CALLS, INC 79026 DRT Ducks Double Reed Orange Pearl Acrylic is a purpose-built duck call designed for hunters seeking a versatile and user-friendly tool, especially in timber hunting scenarios. Marketed by Echo Calls as a double-reed timber call, it aims to deliver a ducky tone that is easy to operate, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced callers. Its orange pearl acrylic construction promises durability and aesthetic appeal.
My pursuit of the ECHO CALLS, INC 79026 DRT Ducks Double Reed Orange Pearl Acrylic stemmed from a growing frustration with my current call, which lacked the subtlety required for close-range timber hunting. I needed a call that could produce realistic, soft duck sounds without being overly aggressive or difficult to control. The promise of a “ducky tone yet, easy to operate” immediately piqued my interest.
Upon unboxing, the ECHO CALLS, INC 79026 DRT Ducks Double Reed Orange Pearl Acrylic immediately impressed me with its vibrant orange pearl finish. The acrylic felt substantial and smooth, promising a comfortable grip even in wet conditions. The weight felt balanced, suggesting a well-crafted instrument.
Compared to my old polycarbonate single-reed call and a higher-end walnut double-reed, the ECHO CALLS, INC 79026 DRT Ducks Double Reed Orange Pearl Acrylic seemed to strike a perfect balance between affordability and quality. The polycarbonate call felt cheap, while the walnut call, though beautiful, required significant lung power and finesse. I was hoping the Echo call would bridge that gap.
My first impression was one of cautious optimism. The call looked great, felt great, and the Echo Calls name carries a certain reputation. The real test, however, would be how it performed in the field.
Real-World Testing: Putting ECHO CALLS, INC 79026 DRT Ducks Double Reed Orange Pearl Acrylic to the Test
First Use Experience
My initial field test took place in a flooded timber area known for its wary mallards. The conditions were typical for the late season: cold, damp, and with a light breeze. I positioned myself along the edge of a small opening, hoping to entice some ducks into range.
The ECHO CALLS, INC 79026 DRT Ducks Double Reed Orange Pearl Acrylic proved remarkably easy to use right out of the gate. The double reed design required minimal air pressure to produce a convincing feed chuckle and a soft, pleading call. The ducks responded almost immediately, with a pair of mallards breaking from a larger group and circling my location.
There were no issues with sticking reeds or excessive moisture buildup during the initial use. The acrylic barrel remained comfortable to hold despite the cold and wet conditions. The call delivered on its promise of being easy to operate, which was a pleasant surprise.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of regular use throughout the hunting season, the ECHO CALLS, INC 79026 DRT Ducks Double Reed Orange Pearl Acrylic has held up remarkably well. There are no visible signs of wear and tear on the acrylic barrel. The reeds remain in excellent condition, still producing consistent and reliable sounds.
Maintenance has been minimal; a simple rinse with water after each hunt is usually sufficient. The call disassembles easily for more thorough cleaning if needed. Compared to my previous experiences with wooden calls that require careful oiling and humidity control, the acrylic construction of the Echo call is a significant advantage.
The ECHO CALLS, INC 79026 DRT Ducks Double Reed Orange Pearl Acrylic has consistently outperformed my expectations. Its ease of use, combined with its realistic duck sounds, has made it my go-to call for timber hunting situations.
