Let’s Talk About ECHO CALLS, INC 79005 XLT Ducks Black Single Reed Acrylic
Duck hunting is more than just a hobby; it’s a tradition, a skill honed over generations, and an art form. The call is your voice in the marsh, the instrument that bridges the gap between you and the elusive waterfowl. The ECHO CALLS, INC 79005 XLT Ducks Black Single Reed Acrylic aims to be that instrument, promising versatility and performance in one sleek package.
My journey into duck hunting began with a hand-me-down call that produced more squawks than quacks. This led me on a quest for the perfect call; one that could deliver both loud hail calls for open water and soft, enticing timber calls. I was looking for a call that could adapt to any situation, any duck, and any hunting environment.
The ECHO CALLS, INC 79005 XLT Ducks Black Single Reed Acrylic arrived in a simple, no-frills package. Holding it for the first time, the weight of the acrylic felt substantial, and the black finish was both classic and stealthy. The build quality felt immediately apparent; this wasn’t a cheap, mass-produced item, but a carefully crafted tool.
I considered several other calls before settling on the Echo. I looked at the Duck Commander Triple Threat, known for its raspy tones, and the Primos Original Wench, a favorite for its ease of use. The Echo stood out due to its promise of versatility, offering both loud and soft calls in one package, something the others seemed to specialize in only one area. My first impression was excitement mixed with a healthy dose of skepticism; could one call truly do it all?
Real-World Testing: Putting ECHO CALLS, INC 79005 XLT Ducks Black Single Reed Acrylic to the Test
First Use Experience
My initial testing ground was a familiar flooded timber area where mallards love to congregate. The air was crisp, the water still, and the anticipation palpable. I started with a series of hail calls, testing the XLT’s ability to reach out across the water. The call immediately produced a loud, ringing tone that echoed through the trees.
The ECHO CALLS, INC 79005 XLT Ducks Black Single Reed Acrylic performed admirably, cutting through the morning air and sounding very duck-like. Transitioning to softer timber calls required a bit of finesse, but the call responded well to subtle changes in air pressure and hand position. There were no initial issues; the call was responsive and produced a range of sounds as advertised.
Extended Use & Reliability
After a full season of hunting in various conditions, from early teal hunts in the sweltering heat to late-season mallard hunts in freezing temperatures, the ECHO CALLS, INC 79005 XLT Ducks Black Single Reed Acrylic has proven its mettle. It has weathered rain, mud, and the occasional accidental dunking with no degradation in performance. A quick wipe down after each hunt has kept it in prime condition.
The call has proven remarkably durable; the acrylic construction has resisted scratches and chips, maintaining its polished appearance. Cleaning is simple; a quick rinse with water and a gentle wipe are all that’s needed. Compared to my previous polycarbonate calls, the Echo Acrylic XLT has exceeded expectations in both sound quality and durability.
