Let’s Talk About Boyds Hardwood Gunstocks Rifle Stock Classic Savage B Series BBC Left Hand Stk Right Hand Act
The Boyds Hardwood Gunstocks Rifle Stock Classic Savage B Series BBC Left Hand Stk Right Hand Act is more than just a piece of wood; it’s a critical interface between the shooter and their rifle, significantly impacting accuracy and overall shooting experience. Specifically designed for the left-handed shooter using a right-hand action Savage B Series rifle with a bull barrel, this stock promises enhanced ergonomics and a classic aesthetic, finished in a forest camo pattern. I was curious to see if this stock truly delivered on its promises.
I was seeking a stock that not only provided a more comfortable and secure grip but also improved the accuracy of my Savage B Series rifle. The original synthetic stock felt flimsy and lacked the stability needed for consistent long-range shooting. This Boyds Hardwood Gunstocks stock seemed to offer a solution.
Upon unboxing, the first thing that struck me was the sheer quality of the hardwood. The Boyds Hardwood Gunstocks Rifle Stock Classic Savage B Series BBC Left Hand Stk Right Hand Act felt substantial and well-made, a far cry from the lightweight, plastic stock I was replacing. The forest camo finish was nicely applied and added a touch of classic style.
I considered a few other options before settling on this stock. I looked at a laminate stock from Ruger and a chassis system from Magpul. However, I ultimately chose the Boyds stock because I wanted a traditional wood stock with improved ergonomics and accuracy, without the tactical look of a chassis system.
My initial impression was overwhelmingly positive. The Boyds Hardwood Gunstocks Rifle Stock Classic Savage B Series BBC Left Hand Stk Right Hand Act looked and felt like a significant upgrade. I was eager to install it and see how it performed at the range.
Real-World Testing: Putting Boyds Hardwood Gunstocks Rifle Stock Classic Savage B Series BBC Left Hand Stk Right Hand Act to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the Boyds Hardwood Gunstocks Rifle Stock Classic Savage B Series BBC Left Hand Stk Right Hand Act at my local shooting range, focusing on benchrest accuracy at 100 yards. The weather was clear and calm, providing ideal conditions for testing. The most important thing to me was to improve my shooting results and reduce the amount of “flyers” on the target.
The stock performed exceptionally well in these conditions. The improved ergonomics and more solid feel of the Boyds Hardwood Gunstocks Rifle Stock Classic Savage B Series BBC Left Hand Stk Right Hand Act made it much easier to maintain a stable shooting platform. The only adjustment I needed was to the cheek rest, as I am used to shooting an AR platform.
The installation was straightforward, with the action dropping into the stock with minimal fitting required. However, I did notice that the barrel channel needed some slight sanding to fully free-float the bull barrel. This is to be expected, with minor tolerance differences in each firearm manufactured.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of use, the Boyds Hardwood Gunstocks Rifle Stock Classic Savage B Series BBC Left Hand Stk Right Hand Act has proven to be incredibly durable and reliable. It shows no signs of wear and tear, despite being subjected to regular range trips and occasional bumps during transport. The camo finish has remained intact and vibrant.
The hardwood construction has held up well to various weather conditions, including exposure to moisture and temperature fluctuations. I make sure to regularly apply a light coat of gunstock oil to keep the wood protected. This ensures no cracking or splitting occurs.
Compared to the original synthetic stock, the Boyds stock is a significant improvement in every way. It enhances accuracy, provides a more comfortable shooting experience, and looks great. I am very happy with its performance.
