Rounded IWI OWB KYDEX Paddle Holster Review

Let’s Talk About Rounded IWI OWB KYDEX Paddle Holster

The Rounded IWI OWB KYDEX Paddle Holster promises secure and versatile carry for IWI pistol owners. Made by Rounded, this outside-the-waistband (OWB) holster is designed for comfort and adjustability, featuring a posi-click retention system and adjustable cant. As someone who’s carried firearms for over a decade in various environments, from demanding tactical scenarios to everyday concealed carry, I’m always on the lookout for a holster that balances security, comfort, and accessibility.

My old leather holster had finally worn out, and I was looking for a more modern, durable, and adjustable option. I wanted something that would securely hold my IWI Jericho 941, offer easy draw, and allow me to customize the carry angle. I was drawn to the Rounded IWI OWB KYDEX Paddle Holster because of its promise of a secure fit, adjustable cant, and durable Kydex construction.

The holster arrived in a simple, no-frills package. My initial impression was that the Kydex felt sturdy and well-formed, and the paddle attachment seemed robust enough for daily use. The black finish was clean and professional, and the overall construction appeared solid. I’ve used similar Kydex holsters from Safariland and Blade-Tech in the past, but this one felt lighter and potentially more comfortable for all-day carry.

I ultimately chose this holster over a Blackhawk! Serpa or a Safariland ALS model because I preferred the simplicity and adjustability of the Rounded design for OWB concealed carry. The Serpa’s release mechanism can be problematic under stress, and the Safariland ALS is often overkill for everyday carry. I was excited to try the adjustable cant feature and see how it would affect my draw speed and comfort.

I was cautiously optimistic, hoping it would live up to its claims of comfort, security, and adjustability. I was eager to put it through its paces at the range and in my daily routine.

First Use Experience

I first tested the Rounded IWI OWB KYDEX Paddle Holster at an outdoor shooting range in varied conditions. The weather was sunny and dry, providing ideal conditions for evaluating its fit and draw speed. The range allowed for dynamic drills, providing a challenging but real-world environment.

The holster performed admirably, even during rapid draws and re-holstering drills. The adjustable cant allowed me to fine-tune the draw angle to my preferred position, greatly improving my draw speed. No issues arose from the first use, and the “posi-click” retention system gave me confidence that my IWI pistol was secure.

After several months of consistent use, the Rounded IWI OWB KYDEX Paddle Holster has held up exceptionally well. The Kydex has shown no signs of cracking or warping, even after enduring daily wear and tear. Maintaining the holster is incredibly simple; a quick wipe-down with a damp cloth keeps it clean and functional.

Compared to my previous leather holster, the Rounded IWI OWB KYDEX Paddle Holster is a significant upgrade in terms of durability and adjustability.
