Let’s Dive into Sierra Bullets 7mm Caliber 160 Grain HPBT GameKing Rifle Bullets
As an experienced hunter and tactical gear specialist, I’ve spent years searching for the perfect balance of accuracy, dependability, and terminal performance in rifle ammunition. The Sierra Bullets 7mm Caliber 160 Grain HPBT GameKing Rifle Bullets have become a staple in my reloading bench, promising exceptional performance for both target shooting and big game hunting. These bullets are designed for 7mm rifles, offering a boat tail hollow point design that enhances ballistic coefficients and long-range accuracy.
My search for a reliable and accurate 7mm bullet for my custom hunting rifle led me to the Sierra Bullets GameKing. I was looking for a bullet that could deliver consistent accuracy at extended ranges while also providing excellent terminal performance on deer-sized game.
The Sierra Bullets arrived in a sturdy box containing 100 meticulously crafted bullets. My initial impression was that these were precision-made, with a consistent shape and weight that inspires confidence.
Compared to other 7mm bullets I’ve used, such as Nosler AccuBond and Hornady ELD-X, the Sierra GameKing stood out for its classic hollow point boat tail design and reputation for consistent accuracy. While the others boast advanced polymer tips, I was drawn to the proven track record of the Sierra for reliable expansion and penetration. My excitement grew as I prepared to load these rounds and put them to the test.

Compared to my previous experiences with other hunting bullets, the Sierra GameKing consistently outperforms them in terms of overall accuracy and reliable expansion. I’ve experienced clean, ethical kills on multiple deer hunts, bolstering my confidence in their performance.
Breaking Down the Features of Sierra Bullets 7mm Caliber 160 Grain HPBT GameKing Rifle Bullets
Specifications
- The Sierra Bullets 7mm Caliber 160 Grain HPBT GameKing Rifle Bullets feature a .284 Caliber. This is the standard diameter for 7mm cartridges, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of rifles.
- They have a Bullet Weight of 160 grain. This weight provides a good balance of ballistic coefficient and terminal energy for medium to large game.
- The Bullet Type is a Boat Tail Hollow Point (BTHP). This design enhances the ballistic coefficient for improved long-range accuracy.
- The Sectional Density is 0.283. This is an important factor for penetration, indicating the bullet’s ability to penetrate deeply into game animals.
- The bullets are made of Copper. This provides good expansion and weight retention upon impact.
These specifications translate to exceptional long-range accuracy, reliable expansion, and sufficient penetration for ethical hunting. The boat tail design reduces drag, the hollow point initiates rapid expansion, and the weight ensures adequate energy transfer.
Performance & Functionality
The Sierra Bullets 7mm Caliber 160 Grain HPBT GameKing Rifle Bullets excel in their primary function: delivering accurate shots with reliable terminal performance. Their accuracy is consistently sub-MOA in my rifle, making them suitable for both target shooting and hunting at extended ranges.
The bullet’s design allows for consistent and controlled expansion upon impact, creating a large wound channel and ensuring quick, ethical kills. A minor weakness might be in extremely thick-skinned or heavily boned game where a bonded or solid bullet may perform better, but for deer and similar game, they are ideal. They exceed my expectations for a bullet in this class.
Design & Ergonomics
The Sierra Bullets are designed with a classic boat tail hollow point shape, known for its aerodynamic efficiency and reliable expansion. Their build quality is top-notch, with consistent dimensions and weight.
The bullets are easy to load and seat in cartridge cases, and the hollow point design makes them relatively insensitive to seating depth variations. There is no learning curve, making them suitable for reloaders of all skill levels.
Durability & Maintenance
The Sierra Bullets themselves are inherently durable, maintaining their shape and weight even after repeated handling and loading. Cartridge cases loaded with Sierra Bullets should be stored in a cool, dry place to prevent corrosion.
Maintenance is minimal, as the bullets are designed to perform consistently without any special treatment. Cleaning the rifle after using these bullets is no different than with any other copper-jacketed bullet.
Accessories and Customization Options
The Sierra Bullets 7mm Caliber 160 Grain HPBT GameKing Rifle Bullets do not require any specific accessories, as they are a component of hand-loaded ammunition. They are compatible with standard reloading equipment, such as presses, dies, and powder measures.
The Sierra Bullets can be customized by varying powder charge, seating depth, and cartridge overall length to optimize performance in a specific rifle. They are also compatible with a wide range of cartridge cases and primers from various manufacturers.
