Let’s Talk About Federal Premium American Eagle 38 Super +P 115 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point Brass Cased Centerfire Pistol Ammunition AE38S3 20% Off
The Federal Premium American Eagle 38 Super +P 115 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point Brass Cased Centerfire Pistol Ammunition AE38S3 20% Off is a potent cartridge designed for shooters demanding both performance and reliability. Made by Federal, this ammunition combines a time-tested design with modern manufacturing processes, resulting in a round that’s accurate, consistent, and effective. It’s designed for target practice, yet its jacketed hollow point (JHP) construction makes it a viable option for self-defense scenarios.
I stumbled upon this particular ammunition while preparing for a local bowling pin shooting competition. I needed a round that offered a balance of manageable recoil and decisive knockdown power. My search led me to the Federal American Eagle 38 Super +P JHP, promising both the speed and expansion needed to topple those pins.
Upon opening the box, the first thing I noticed was the quality of the brass casings. They were clean, polished, and uniform in appearance. Each round seemed meticulously assembled, a testament to Federal’s commitment to quality control. Compared to some of the cheaper, bulk ammunition I’ve used in the past, the difference in build quality was immediately apparent.
I was initially considering using my standard 9mm rounds or perhaps stepping up to .45 ACP. However, I ultimately chose the 38 Super +P for its flatter trajectory and increased velocity over standard 9mm, while avoiding the significant recoil associated with .45 ACP. My first impression was one of cautious optimism; I was eager to see how these rounds performed in a real-world setting.
Real-World Testing: Putting Federal Premium American Eagle 38 Super +P 115 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point Brass Cased Centerfire Pistol Ammunition AE38S3 20% Off to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the Federal Premium American Eagle 38 Super +P JHP at my local outdoor shooting range. The weather was mild, with a slight breeze, providing ideal conditions for accuracy testing. The first few rounds were a revelation. The recoil was snappy but manageable, and the muzzle flash was noticeable, indicating a powerful burn. Accuracy was excellent right out of the gate, with consistent groupings at 15 yards. I also noticed virtually no noticeable feeding issues in my 1911, which is crucial.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of consistent use, putting several hundred rounds of the Federal American Eagle 38 Super +P JHP through my pistol, I’m thoroughly impressed. The ammunition has proven to be exceptionally reliable, with no malfunctions of any kind. The brass casings eject cleanly, showing no signs of overpressure or other issues.
Durability has also been excellent. Even after repeated use, the rounds exhibit no signs of degradation in performance or accuracy. Cleaning my pistol after shooting the Federal ammunition is also straightforward. The powder burns cleanly, leaving minimal residue.
