Let’s Dive into SOURCE Tactical Wxp 3l
The SOURCE Tactical Wxp 3l isn’t just another hydration reservoir; it’s a meticulously engineered piece of kit designed for demanding environments. SOURCE has a reputation for durability and innovation, and this reservoir aims to uphold that legacy. I’ve always been a firm believer in staying hydrated, especially during intense outdoor activities, and I was eager to see how the Wxp 3l would stack up against my existing reservoirs.
My old hydration pack’s reservoir was constantly leaking, and the plastic taste was unbearable. I needed a reliable and taste-free solution, leading me to explore the SOURCE Tactical Wxp 3l.
Upon unboxing, the SOURCE Tactical Wxp 3l felt instantly different. The material had a reassuring heft, suggesting robust construction. The plastic felt different, and the Grunge-Guard Antimicrobial liner gave me confidence in its cleanliness.
I’ve used Camelbak and Platypus reservoirs in the past. I picked the SOURCE Tactical Wxp 3l because of its purported taste-free liner and the robust construction it promised. First impressions were positive; it looked and felt like a serious piece of gear, nothing like the flimsy bladders I’d struggled with previously.
Real-World Testing: Putting SOURCE Tactical Wxp 3l to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the SOURCE Tactical Wxp 3l on a three-day backpacking trip through the unforgiving terrain of the Arizona desert. Temperatures soared during the day, and dropped drastically at night, providing a great test for the reservoir’s durability.
The reservoir performed admirably in the harsh desert conditions. The water stayed remarkably cool and, most importantly, retained absolutely no plastic taste. The flow rate through the tube was consistent, even when I was exerting myself on steep inclines. I needed no time to get accustomed to using it; it was very intuitive.
One minor issue arose: fine desert dust managed to get into the bite valve cover, but it was easily cleaned. This didn’t affect functionality, but was something I noticed.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, including numerous hikes and a week-long survival skills course, the SOURCE Tactical Wxp 3l has proven exceptionally reliable. There are no signs of leaks or wear and tear.
The reservoir’s durability is impressive. Despite being thrown into packs, dragged through brush, and exposed to extreme temperatures, it looks almost new. Cleaning the reservoir is surprisingly easy thanks to its wide opening and smooth interior.
Compared to my older reservoirs, the SOURCE Tactical Wxp 3l is in a different league. It consistently delivers clean-tasting water, is easier to maintain, and appears significantly more durable. It has exceeded my expectations in every way.
