Elbeco Quick Clip Sideclosure Review

Let’s Dive into Elbeco Quick Clip Sideclosure

The Elbeco Quick Clip Sideclosure – it sounds simple, and in essence, it is. But as any seasoned officer or security professional knows, even the smallest component can make a world of difference in comfort and functionality, especially when wearing body armor for extended periods. This unassuming accessory, manufactured by Elbeco, promises to enhance the fit and feel of your body shield carrier.

For years, I’ve dealt with uncomfortable and ill-fitting vests. The standard side closures often dig in, rub, or simply don’t provide the secure, custom fit needed for dynamic movement. When I saw the Elbeco Quick Clip Sideclosure advertised, promising a more comfortable and adaptable fit, I had to try it.

The Elbeco Quick Clip Sideclosure arrived in a small, unassuming package. My initial impression was that it was surprisingly lightweight, but the plastic clips felt robust and well-made. Comparing it to the standard Velcro side closures on my old vest, it was immediately clear this was a step up in terms of design and potential adjustability.

Having used various side closure systems over the years, including buckle-based and elastic options, I chose the Elbeco Quick Clip Sideclosure for its promise of a secure, yet easily adjustable fit. Other options felt either too restrictive or prone to loosening over time. I was cautiously optimistic, hoping for a more comfortable and secure experience with my body armor.

First impressions? I was intrigued and hopeful. The simplicity of the design suggested ease of use, but the ultimate test would be how it performed under pressure and during extended wear.

Real-World Testing: Putting Elbeco Quick Clip Sideclosure to the Test

First Use Experience

I tested the Elbeco Quick Clip Sideclosure during a full day of firearms training at a local range. The day involved a lot of dynamic movement, shooting from various positions, and simulated scenarios that demanded agility. This was the perfect environment to assess the comfort and security of the Elbeco Quick Clip Sideclosure.

The weather was typical for late summer – hot and humid, with temperatures pushing into the high 80s. This meant sweat and potential chafing would be significant factors. Initially, the clips were a bit stiff to adjust, but after a few minutes of fiddling, I achieved a snug and comfortable fit. Unlike the Velcro closures I was used to, the clips stayed securely in place throughout the entire day, even during rapid movements and transitions.

Once properly adjusted, the Elbeco Quick Clip Sideclosure was remarkably easy to use. The quick-release clips allowed for fast donning and doffing of the vest, which was especially useful during breaks. There were no major issues during the first use, just a slight learning curve in finding the optimal adjustment for my body type.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of regular use, including range days, security details, and even a multi-day camping trip where the vest was used for weight distribution, the Elbeco Quick Clip Sideclosure has proven to be a reliable and worthwhile upgrade. The clips have maintained their integrity, showing no signs of cracking or weakening.

There’s been minimal wear and tear, even with consistent use in demanding environments. The plastic material is surprisingly resilient and easy to clean. A quick wipe with a damp cloth is usually sufficient to remove dirt, sweat, and grime.

The Elbeco Quick Clip Sideclosure has significantly outperformed my previous side closure systems. The Velcro closures on my old vest would often lose their grip over time, requiring constant readjustment. The Elbeco Quick Clip Sideclosure, on the other hand, provides a consistently secure and comfortable fit, even after extended wear.
