Let’s Dive into Safariland 6360 ALS Level III w/ Ride UBL Holster – Hi Gloss, Right Hand 6360-278-91
The Safariland 6360 ALS Level III w/ Ride UBL Holster – Hi Gloss, Right Hand 6360-278-91 isn’t just another piece of gear; it’s a crucial element of a professional’s kit. Manufactured by Safariland, a company renowned for its quality and innovation in law enforcement and military equipment, this holster offers a blend of security, accessibility, and durability. The inclusion of the Automatic Locking System (ALS) and the Level III Retention make it stand out, ensuring the weapon is secure while still allowing for a rapid draw when needed.
For years, I’ve wrestled with finding the perfect balance between retention and speed when it comes to duty holsters. My primary concern was always preventing unauthorized access to my firearm while maintaining the ability to draw quickly and efficiently in high-stress situations. The Safariland 6360 promised this, and the reputation of Safariland within the law enforcement community piqued my interest.
Upon unboxing, the first thing that struck me was the holster’s robust construction and the glossy finish. It felt solid and well-made, not like some of the cheaper, mass-produced options I’ve encountered. The weight was substantial enough to inspire confidence, yet not so heavy as to become cumbersome on a full duty belt.
I considered other holsters like the BlackHawk Serpa Level 3 and the Bianchi Accumold Elite, but the Safariland‘s ALS system seemed more intuitive and less prone to accidental release. The Hi-Gloss finish, while perhaps not ideal for covert operations, provides a professional, authoritative appearance that is well suited for duty use. My initial excitement was tempered with the expectation that a holster at this price point should deliver on its promises of security and ease of use.
Real-World Testing: Putting Safariland 6360 ALS Level III w/ Ride UBL Holster – Hi Gloss, Right Hand 6360-278-91 to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the Safariland 6360 at the range during a simulated active shooter scenario. The purpose was to assess the holster’s draw speed and retention under duress. During these drills, I found the ALS system remarkably intuitive; the thumb release became second nature after only a few repetitions.
Even in wet conditions, the holster maintained a secure grip on my Sig Sauer P2022. There was a slight learning curve with the Level III retention, but after a few hours of practice, the draw stroke became smooth and efficient. There were no immediate issues, although I did notice a slight squeak from the UBL (Universal Belt Loop) when moving dynamically.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of daily use, the Safariland 6360 has proven to be incredibly durable. There are minimal signs of wear and tear, even after exposure to various weather conditions and rigorous training exercises. Regular cleaning with a damp cloth has kept the Hi-Gloss finish looking pristine.
Compared to my previous duty holster, the Safariland 6360 offers a significantly improved level of security and accessibility.
