Turkey hunting. It’s a ritual, a challenge, a test of patience, and when it all comes together, a deeply satisfying experience. The Fiocchi Golden Turkey 12 Gauge 1 3/4oz 3in 4 Size Shotgun Ammunition
123TRKC4 37% Off promises to be a key ingredient in that recipe, delivering a potent payload of nickel-plated lead shot designed specifically to bring down those wary gobblers. This isn’t just any shotgun shell; it’s a dedicated turkey load from Fiocchi, a manufacturer with a long-standing reputation for quality and consistency.
My search for the perfect turkey load is never-ending. I’ve tried countless combinations of gauge, shot size, and payload, each with varying degrees of success. This year, I was looking for a shell that balanced power and pattern density, something that could reach out and touch a tom at a reasonable distance without completely obliterating the bird.
The Fiocchi Golden Turkey shells arrived in a standard shotshell box, nothing fancy, but neatly organized. The shells themselves looked well-made, the crimps were tight, and the nickel plating on the shot gave them a premium appearance. The 3-inch length felt substantial, promising a good punch.
I’ve used Winchester Long Beard XR and Federal Premium Grand Slam Turkey in the past. The Long Beard XR offers impressive range, but the patterns can be tight and unforgiving, while the Grand Slam Turkey delivers consistent patterns but sometimes lacks the knockdown power for longer shots. The Fiocchi seemed like a good middle ground, offering a balance of both.
Initially, I was cautiously optimistic. The price point, especially with the discount, was attractive, and the specifications seemed promising. I was eager to see how they performed in the field.

First Use Experience
My first experience with the Fiocchi Golden Turkey 12 Gauge 1 3/4oz 3in 4 Size Shotgun Ammunition
123TRKC4 37% Off was at my local shooting range, patterning them through my trusty Mossberg 835 Ulti-Mag. The range was dry and sunny, a perfect day for testing. I set up a turkey target at 40 yards, a common distance for turkey hunting in my area.
The recoil was noticeable but manageable, typical for a 3-inch 12-gauge load. The pattern, however, was the real story. At 40 yards, the Fiocchi shells delivered a dense and even pattern, with a good concentration of pellets in the vital head and neck area of the turkey target.
There were no immediate issues after the first few shots. The shells cycled flawlessly through my shotgun, and the primers ignited reliably. I was impressed with the consistency of the patterns.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of using the Fiocchi Golden Turkey 12 Gauge 1 3/4oz 3in 4 Size Shotgun Ammunition
123TRKC4 37% Off for practice and during the actual turkey season, I can confidently say that they hold up well. I experienced no misfires or cycling issues throughout the entire season. The nickel-plated lead shot seems to resist deformation, maintaining pattern density even after being stored in my vest for extended periods.
I noticed no significant wear and tear on the shells themselves. Cleaning my shotgun after using the Fiocchi shells was no different than cleaning after using other brands. The Fiocchi Golden Turkey shells outperform some of the cheaper loads I’ve used in the past, offering better patterns and more consistent performance.

Specifications
The Fiocchi Golden Turkey 12 Gauge 1 3/4oz 3in 4 Size Shotgun Ammunition
123TRKC4 37% Off boasts several key specifications. It features a 12-gauge shell with a 3-inch chamber. The shell contains 1 3/4 oz of #4 nickel-plated lead shot, delivered at a muzzle velocity of 1325 fps. These specifications are crucial for turkey hunting because they provide the necessary power and pattern density to effectively harvest a turkey at typical hunting ranges.
The 12-gauge offers ample power for a clean kill. The 3-inch chamber allows for a larger payload of shot. The #4 shot size strikes a balance between pellet count and individual pellet energy. The nickel plating helps the shot maintain its shape, resulting in tighter patterns. The muzzle velocity contributes to the shell’s effective range and knockdown power.
Performance & Functionality
The Fiocchi Golden Turkey 12 Gauge 1 3/4oz 3in 4 Size Shotgun Ammunition
123TRKC4 37% Off performs admirably in the field. The patterns are consistent and dense out to 40 yards. This provides a good margin for error when aiming at a moving or partially obscured target.
The shell’s strengths lie in its consistent patterns and adequate knockdown power. The recoil, while present, is manageable in most modern shotguns. One potential weakness could be its performance at longer ranges (beyond 40 yards), where the pattern may begin to thin out. It meets my expectations for a dedicated turkey load, offering a reliable and effective option for turkey hunters.
Design & Ergonomics
The shells themselves are designed for reliable feeding and ignition. The crimp is tight and secure, preventing shot from spilling out. The brass head is of good quality, ensuring reliable extraction.
The weight of the shells is standard for a 3-inch 12-gauge load. There is no learning curve associated with using these shells.
Durability & Maintenance
The nickel-plated lead shot contributes to the shell’s overall durability. The shells are designed to withstand normal handling and storage conditions. Cleaning my shotgun after using these shells is no different than cleaning after using other brands of shotgun ammunition.
