Condor Outdoor VAS Triple Mag Panel Review

Let’s Dive into Condor Outdoor VAS Triple Mag Panel

The Condor Outdoor VAS Triple Mag Panel is a modular magazine carrier designed to integrate seamlessly with the Condor Outdoor Vanquish Armor System (VAS). This panel allows users to carry up to three AR/M4 or AK magazines securely and accessibly. My journey to finding this product stemmed from a recurring issue: the inadequate magazine capacity on my current plate carrier during long range sessions and tactical training exercises. I needed a streamlined, reliable, and easily accessible solution without adding unnecessary bulk to my setup.

Unboxing the Condor Outdoor VAS Triple Mag Panel revealed a product that felt immediately robust. The Condor Outdoor proprietary LCS material, with its laser-cut MOLLE slots, looked and felt durable, promising resilience in demanding environments. The panel itself felt lightweight, a crucial factor considering the added weight of three fully loaded magazines.

Compared to other triple mag pouches I’ve used – namely, the Blue Force Gear Ten-Speed Triple M4 Mag Pouch and the HSGI TACO Modular Rifle Magazine Pouch – the Condor Outdoor VAS Triple Mag Panel stood out because of its specific integration with the Vanquish Armor System and its price point. While the Blue Force Gear is incredibly lightweight, it lacks the structural rigidity and modularity of the Condor Outdoor offering. The HSGI TACO, while incredibly versatile, is significantly more expensive. My hope was that the Condor Outdoor option would strike a balance between affordability, functionality, and durability.

My initial impression was cautiously optimistic. The build quality appeared solid, and the integration with the VAS system seemed well-executed. I was eager to put it through its paces and see if it could hold up to the rigors of real-world use, and whether its low price reflected compromised performance.

Real-World Testing: Putting Condor Outdoor VAS Triple Mag Panel to the Test

First Use Experience

My first opportunity to test the Condor Outdoor VAS Triple Mag Panel came during a full-day carbine course at a local shooting range. The course involved numerous drills, including rapid magazine changes and movement under cover. The mag panel was attached directly to my Condor Outdoor Vanquish Armor System using the male buckle ends and hook backing.

The performance was impressive, even in the somewhat dusty conditions of the range. Magazine retention was secure, even during dynamic movements, and accessing the magazines for quick reloads was surprisingly smooth. I didn’t experience any issues with magazines snagging or falling out, which was a major concern I had based on the price point.

The only initial issue I encountered was that the panel sits slightly lower than I initially anticipated on the Condor Outdoor Vanquish Armor System. This meant I had to adjust my draw stroke slightly. This wasn’t a major problem, but it required a bit of familiarization.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of consistent use, including multiple range trips and a weekend-long tactical training exercise, the Condor Outdoor VAS Triple Mag Panel has proven to be remarkably durable. There are no visible signs of wear and tear, even on the laser-cut MOLLE slots, and the stitching remains intact. The Condor Outdoor LCS material has held up well against abrasion and exposure to the elements.

Maintenance is straightforward. A quick wipe down with a damp cloth is usually sufficient to remove dirt and grime. I haven’t had to perform any significant repairs or maintenance, which is a testament to its robust construction.

Compared to my previous experiences with more expensive magazine carriers, the Condor Outdoor VAS Triple Mag Panel has exceeded my expectations, especially considering its price. While it may not offer the same level of fine-tuned adjustability as some high-end options, it provides a reliable and functional solution for carrying extra magazines.

Performance & Functionality

The Condor Outdoor VAS Triple Mag Panel performs its primary job – securely holding and providing easy access to magazines – exceptionally well. Magazine retention is consistently reliable, and the open-top design facilitates rapid reloads. Its performance is reliable under stress.

The Condor Outdoor VAS Triple Mag Panel’s strengths lie in its simplicity, durability, and ease of use. One weakness I noticed is that there’s no individual retention adjustment for each magazine pouch, but for the price, this is a fair compromise. Overall, it meets and even exceeds expectations, delivering reliable performance at a budget-friendly price.

Design & Ergonomics

The build quality of the Condor Outdoor VAS Triple Mag Panel is surprisingly good. The materials feel robust, and the stitching is clean and secure. The laser-cut MOLLE slots are precisely aligned, further contributing to the overall impression of quality. The panel feels relatively lightweight, even when fully loaded with magazines.

Using the panel is intuitive and requires no significant learning curve. The buckle attachment system makes it easy to attach and detach from the Vanquish Armor System, and the open-top design allows for quick and easy access to magazines. Its simple and ergonomic design contributes to a positive user experience.

Durability & Maintenance

Based on my experience, the Condor Outdoor VAS Triple Mag Panel appears to be built to last. The Condor Outdoor LCS material is resistant to abrasion and tearing, and the stitching is reinforced in high-stress areas. Regular cleaning and basic care should ensure that this panel provides years of reliable service.

Maintaining the panel is simple. Wiping it down with a damp cloth is usually sufficient to remove dirt and grime. The durable materials and robust construction make it unlikely that any significant repairs will be needed.

Accessories and Customization Options

The Condor Outdoor VAS Triple Mag Panel doesn’t come with any additional accessories. However, the laser-cut MOLLE slots allow for the attachment of other MOLLE-compatible pouches and accessories, providing a degree of customization. The integrated design with the Condor Outdoor Vanquish Armor System is its strength.

While the panel is primarily designed for use with the Vanquish Armor System, the MOLLE slots also make it compatible with other MOLLE-compatible platforms. This versatility makes it a suitable option for users who want to use it with different load-bearing systems.
