Let’s Talk About LPA SPL Fully Adjustable Luminova Sight Set
In the world of pistol sights, adjustability and visibility are king. The LPA SPL Fully Adjustable Luminova Sight Set promises to deliver both, offering a compelling upgrade for anyone looking to enhance their aiming capabilities in varied lighting conditions. The LPA brand is known for its quality, and this sight set aims to continue that tradition, but does it live up to the hype?
My aging eyes and penchant for early morning range sessions were the catalyst for seeking an upgrade. The factory sights on my trusty Glock 19 were proving difficult to acquire quickly, especially when the sun was just peeking over the horizon. I needed a solution that offered clear visibility and the ability to fine-tune my point of impact for different ammunition types and distances.
Upon unboxing, the LPA SPL Fully Adjustable Luminova Sight Set impressed with its solid steel construction and clean finish. The sights felt substantial and well-made, suggesting a robust build quality. The Luminova inserts glowed faintly, hinting at their low-light capabilities.
I was considering Trijicon HD sights and Dawson Precision adjustable sights before landing on these. I chose the LPA set due to the combination of adjustability and the Luminova inserts. The LPA offered a compelling balance of features at a more attractive price point.
My initial impression was one of cautious optimism. I was excited about the potential for improved accuracy and faster target acquisition. I was slightly concerned about the low-profile design affecting ease of adjustment in the field.
Real-World Testing: Putting LPA SPL Fully Adjustable Luminova Sight Set to the Test
First Use Experience
My first outing with the LPA SPL Fully Adjustable Luminova Sight Set was at my local outdoor range. The weather was overcast, providing a good test for the Luminova inserts without direct sunlight washing them out. I was shooting a mix of 115-grain and 124-grain 9mm ammunition.
The difference in sight acquisition was immediately noticeable. The Luminova inserts, even in the dim light, offered a clear focal point. Adjusting the sights was straightforward using the included wrenches. I spent about an hour dialing in the sights for the 124-grain ammo at 15 yards.
I experienced no immediate issues. The sights held their zero throughout the session. The adjustability was a welcome feature, allowing me to compensate for the slight differences in point of impact between the two ammo types.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of use, including weekly range visits and a couple of IDPA matches, the LPA SPL Fully Adjustable Luminova Sight Set has proven to be a reliable and valuable upgrade. The sights have maintained their zero, even after hundreds of rounds fired. They haven’t loosened or shifted on the slide.
There are no significant signs of wear and tear beyond some minor finish marks from holster use. The steel construction feels incredibly durable. The Luminova inserts are still glowing brightly after months of use.
Cleaning the sights is simple. I just use a soft brush and some solvent during my regular firearm maintenance routine. The LPA SPL Fully Adjustable Luminova Sight Set outperforms the factory Glock sights in every way. I appreciate the improved visibility and adjustability.
