Knives of Alaska Trekker Whitetail GH/Cub Combo ORANGE Review

Let’s Talk About Knives of Alaska Trekker Whitetail GH/Cub Combo ORANGE

The Knives of Alaska Trekker Whitetail GH/Cub Combo ORANGE is a meticulously crafted set designed for serious hunters. This combo, featuring both a gutting knife and a caping knife, promises to be a versatile and reliable companion in the field, built for processing game with precision.

My search for the ideal hunting knife combo stemmed from years of frustration with flimsy, multi-tools and single blades that just couldn’t handle the diverse tasks of field dressing a deer. I needed something robust, dependable, and, frankly, easier to spot in the often-chaotic environment of a successful hunt.

Upon unboxing the Knives of Alaska Trekker Whitetail GH/Cub Combo ORANGE, I was immediately impressed by the heft and feel of quality. The bright orange handles ensured high visibility, a welcome change from perpetually lost knives of the past.

Compared to other hunting knife combos I’ve considered, like the Gerber Vital Big Game Folder and the Buck Knives 658 Pursuit Pro, the Knives of Alaska set stood out due to its full-tang construction and the promise of superior steel. I also valued the inclusion of a dedicated gutting knife, something often absent in competitor sets.

My first impression was one of excitement and anticipation. This combo felt like a serious tool, ready to tackle the challenges of a successful hunt.

Real-World Testing: Putting Knives of Alaska Trekker Whitetail GH/Cub Combo ORANGE to the Test

First Use Experience

My first opportunity to truly test the Knives of Alaska Trekker Whitetail GH/Cub Combo ORANGE came during a deer hunt in the rugged terrain of the Pennsylvania mountains. The weather was damp and cold, a typical late-season condition.

The Whitetail GH gutting knife proved its worth immediately, effortlessly opening the deer’s abdominal cavity without piercing any internal organs. The Cub Bear caping knife was equally impressive, allowing for precise skinning around the head and legs, even with numb fingers. There were no slips, and the grip remained secure despite the blood and moisture.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of use during the hunting season, the Knives of Alaska Trekker Whitetail GH/Cub Combo ORANGE has proven to be remarkably durable. Despite repeated use and cleaning, the blades have held their edge exceptionally well.

The handles still look like new, even after being covered in blood and exposed to harsh weather. The leather sheath has also held up nicely, showing no signs of wear. Comparing this combo to previous knives I’ve used, it’s a clear step up in terms of both performance and durability.
