ArmaLaser Laser Sight for Taurus Spectrum Review

Let’s Talk About ArmaLaser Laser Sight for Taurus Spectrum

The ArmaLaser Laser Sight for Taurus Spectrum is a trigger guard mounted laser aiming device designed specifically for the compact Taurus Spectrum pistol. The ArmaLaser promises enhanced accuracy and rapid target acquisition, especially in low-light conditions. Having spent years relying on iron sights and experimenting with various aiming solutions, I was intrigued by the potential of this laser sight to improve the Spectrum’s usability for concealed carry and home defense.

My interest in the ArmaLaser Laser Sight for Taurus Spectrum stemmed from a persistent challenge: effectively using the Taurus Spectrum’s stock sights in rapid-fire scenarios. The Spectrum, while admirably concealable, has sights that are less than ideal for quick target acquisition, particularly for aging eyes. I needed a solution that would offer a faster, more intuitive aiming point, without significantly increasing the pistol’s overall size or compromising its concealability.

Upon unboxing, I was immediately impressed by the compact and lightweight design of the ArmaLaser. The DuPont Zytel FRN Polymer construction felt robust yet unobtrusive, seamlessly integrating with the Spectrum’s trigger guard. The unit felt solid and well-made, with no noticeable flex or play.

I considered several other laser sights before settling on the ArmaLaser Laser Sight for Taurus Spectrum. Crimson Trace models, while reputable, often come with a higher price tag. LaserMax options presented different mounting styles that I didn’t prefer. The ArmaLaser’s grip-touch activation and trigger guard mounting seemed the most practical and streamlined for the Spectrum’s intended purpose.

My first impression was one of cautious optimism. The compact size and intuitive activation method were promising, but the true test would be its performance at the range. I was eager to see if the ArmaLaser Laser Sight for Taurus Spectrum could live up to its promise of enhanced accuracy and faster target acquisition.

Real-World Testing: Putting ArmaLaser Laser Sight for Taurus Spectrum to the Test

First Use Experience

My initial testing of the ArmaLaser Laser Sight for Taurus Spectrum took place at my local indoor shooting range. The controlled environment allowed me to focus on the laser’s performance without the distractions of varying weather conditions. I primarily tested the laser at distances of 7, 15, and 25 yards, simulating self-defense scenarios.

The ArmaLaser performed admirably in the relatively dim lighting of the indoor range. The ultra-bright 520nm green laser was clearly visible on the targets, even in daylight conditions within the range. The grip-touch activation was intuitive and responsive; the laser activated instantly as I established my grip.

There was a slight learning curve involved in adjusting my aiming technique. I had to consciously focus on the laser dot rather than the iron sights. After a few magazines, however, I found myself acquiring targets much faster and more consistently than with the iron sights alone. I was impressed by the accuracy and responsiveness of the laser.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of regular use, the ArmaLaser Laser Sight for Taurus Spectrum has proven to be a reliable and valuable addition to my Taurus Spectrum. The laser has held its zero remarkably well, requiring only minor adjustments after the initial installation.

The DuPont Zytel FRN Polymer housing has shown no signs of significant wear and tear, despite regular handling and holster use. The laser has been exposed to a variety of conditions, including humidity and moderate heat, without any adverse effects on its performance. The unit remains securely mounted to the trigger guard.

Maintenance of the ArmaLaser is incredibly simple. The convenient battery door allows for quick and easy battery replacement without removing the laser from the pistol. A quick wipe-down with a damp cloth is all that’s needed to keep the lens clean and clear. It definitely outperforms my expectations for a laser sight in this price range.
