Let’s Talk About Strike King KVD Sexy Frog Sexy Frog Soft Bait
As an experienced outdoor and tactical gear specialist with over a decade of hands-on experience, I’ve seen my fair share of fishing lures. The Strike King KVD Sexy Frog Sexy Frog Soft Bait, designed in collaboration with the legendary Kevin Van Dam, promises to be a topwater terror, enticing bass from the thickest cover. This isn’t just another frog bait; it’s a meticulously engineered piece of angling equipment.
I was searching for a reliable frog bait that could handle heavy cover without constantly snagging. I needed something that offered both realistic action and the durability to withstand repeated strikes from aggressive bass.
Upon unboxing, the first thing I noticed was the Strike King KVD Sexy Frog Sexy Frog Soft Bait’s soft, pliable body. It felt ready to collapse on a hookset. The color, “Sexy Frog,” was vibrant and lifelike, with intricate detailing that screamed “eat me” to any lurking bass.
Compared to other frog baits I’ve used, like the Spro Bronzeye Frog and the LiveTarget Hollow Body Frog, the Strike King KVD Sexy Frog Sexy Frog Soft Bait stood out due to its sealed nose design and integrated belly spring. The sealed nose promises to minimize water intake, a common issue with hollow body frogs, while the belly spring aims to enhance hookup ratios.
My initial impression was excitement tempered with a touch of skepticism. Could this bait live up to the hype and outperform its competitors in real-world fishing scenarios? Time would tell, but the initial signs were promising.
Real-World Testing: Putting Strike King KVD Sexy Frog Sexy Frog Soft Bait to the Test
First Use Experience
I took the Strike King KVD Sexy Frog Sexy Frog Soft Bait to my local bass-infested lake, known for its heavy weed mats and submerged timber. I targeted areas where I knew bass were holding, casting the frog right into the thickest cover I could find.
The Strike King KVD Sexy Frog Sexy Frog Soft Bait performed admirably in various conditions, from sunny skies to light rain. The bait maintained its buoyancy and action even after repeated casts into dense vegetation. Retrieving the frog was smooth, and it walked effortlessly across the surface, creating a tempting V-wake that drew the attention of nearby bass.
It took a few casts to get the hang of the retrieve, but once I found the sweet spot, the Strike King KVD Sexy Frog Sexy Frog Soft Bait walked with a rhythmic cadence that was irresistible to bass. There were no immediate issues, and the sealed nose design seemed to be doing its job, preventing water from flooding the body.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of consistent use, the Strike King KVD Sexy Frog Sexy Frog Soft Bait has proven to be a reliable and durable lure. The soft body has held up surprisingly well, with only minor signs of wear and tear despite numerous encounters with toothy bass and abrasive cover.
The paint job is still vibrant, with only slight fading around the hook slots. Maintaining the bait is simple; I just rinse it with fresh water after each use and store it in a tackle box away from direct sunlight.
Compared to my previous experiences with other frog baits that often tore easily or lost their action after a few fish, the Strike King KVD Sexy Frog Sexy Frog Soft Bait has exceeded my expectations in terms of durability and performance. It’s become a go-to bait in my arsenal for targeting bass in heavy cover.
