Let’s Talk About Berkley FFSH7M-FLGH FLCKR SHD MD 7CM FLSHYGHOST 1290496
The Berkley FFSH7M-FLGH FLCKR SHD MD 7CM FLSHYGHOST 1290496 is more than just another crankbait; it’s a meticulously designed tool crafted by Berkley in collaboration with professional anglers to perfectly mimic the size and profile of a fleeing shad. This medium-sized Flicker Shad, with its flashy ghost coloration, is intended to trigger aggressive strikes from predatory fish lurking in the 11-13 foot depth range.
My fishing buddies have been out-fishing me in medium depth water lately, and the common denominator seems to be shad imitation crankbaits, so I needed to add one to my arsenal. I was specifically looking for something that could cover a good amount of water and present a realistic profile to hesitant fish.
Out of the package, the Berkley FFSH7M-FLGH FLCKR SHD MD 7CM FLSHYGHOST 1290496 looks well-built. The finish is striking, and the hooks look incredibly sharp; it feels like a lure ready for business.
Compared to the Rapala Shad Rap and the Strike King KVD Deep Diver, the Berkley FFSH7M-FLGH FLCKR SHD MD 7CM FLSHYGHOST 1290496 stood out due to its more aggressive action and unique color pattern. While the others have their merits, the Flashy Ghost color seemed particularly effective in the slightly murky waters I frequent, giving it an edge in visibility.
My initial impression was excitement tempered with a bit of skepticism. The lure certainly looked the part, but I was eager to see how it would perform in real-world conditions and whether its action would live up to the hype.
Real-World Testing: Putting Berkley FFSH7M-FLGH FLCKR SHD MD 7CM FLSHYGHOST 1290496 to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the Berkley FFSH7M-FLGH FLCKR SHD MD 7CM FLSHYGHOST 1290496 at Lake Serenity, a local reservoir known for its healthy population of largemouth bass and crappie. The day was overcast with a slight chop on the water, providing ideal conditions for crankbait fishing.
The lure performed exceptionally well even in the less-than-crystal-clear water. It maintained its action even at slower retrieve speeds, and the Flashy Ghost color provided excellent visibility in the lower light conditions.
The Berkley FFSH7M-FLGH FLCKR SHD MD 7CM FLSHYGHOST 1290496 was easy to use right out of the package; its weight transfer system allowed for long, accurate casts, and the action was immediately apparent on the retrieve. I appreciated how quickly it got down to the target depth.
The only minor issue was that the treble hooks occasionally snagged on submerged vegetation, requiring a slightly more deliberate retrieval technique. After adjusting my retrieve, the snagging issue decreased.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of consistent use, the Berkley FFSH7M-FLGH FLCKR SHD MD 7CM FLSHYGHOST 1290496 has proven to be a reliable and effective lure. The finish has held up remarkably well, with only minor scratches from encounters with rocks and cover.
The lure’s durability is impressive; even after numerous encounters with fish and submerged obstacles, the body remains intact, and the hooks are still sharp. The paint does chip a little bit, but nothing more than I’d expect.
Maintenance is simple: a quick rinse with fresh water after each use and occasional sharpening of the hooks are all that’s needed to keep it in top condition. Compared to other crankbaits I’ve used, the Berkley FFSH7M-FLGH FLCKR SHD MD 7CM FLSHYGHOST 1290496 has consistently outperformed in terms of action, durability, and fish-catching ability.
