Let’s Talk About Tufloc Overhead Mount Vehicle Rack
The Tufloc Overhead Mount Vehicle Rack promises secure and discreet firearm storage within a vehicle. Manufactured by Tufloc, it boasts features like a delay timer, multiple locking options, and universal compatibility. This rack aims to provide peace of mind for law enforcement, security personnel, and responsible citizens who need a readily accessible yet secure firearm.
As a gear specialist with over a decade in the field, I’ve seen countless weapon storage solutions, some brilliant, others… less so. My primary need was a secure storage option that kept my firearm out of sight, yet quickly accessible in emergency situations when traveling in my vehicle. Living in a rural area with increasing wildlife encounters, having a readily available firearm is not just a preference but a necessity for defense.
Upon unboxing the Tufloc Overhead Mount Vehicle Rack, I was immediately struck by the robust construction of the components. The materials felt durable, and the locking mechanisms appeared substantial and well-engineered. The initial impression was one of quality and thoughtful design, giving me confidence in its ability to secure my firearm.
Compared to other vehicle-mounted firearm storage solutions I’ve explored, such as lockable center console safes or under-seat vaults, the Tufloc system offered a unique advantage: overhead mounting. This placement keeps the firearm completely out of sight from prying eyes while maximizing interior space and accessibility. The Tufloc stood out as the clear choice, especially with the added delay timer feature, for its superior security and ease of access from a seated position.
My first impression was definitely one of cautious optimism. The design seemed promising, the build quality felt solid, and the features were exactly what I was looking for. I was eager to see if the Tufloc Overhead Mount Vehicle Rack would live up to its potential in real-world scenarios.
Real-World Testing: Putting Tufloc Overhead Mount Vehicle Rack to the Test
First Use Experience
I installed the Tufloc Overhead Mount Vehicle Rack in my personal pickup truck. The install took some time, as I wanted to ensure it was properly secured to the frame of the vehicle, but it was fairly simple. After installing the Tufloc Overhead Mount Vehicle Rack, I tested the rack on several back roads that were full of bumps and other obstructions to ensure it was going to keep the firearm safe.
The performance of the Tufloc Overhead Mount Vehicle Rack in varying conditions was impressive. Even when driving on rough, uneven roads, the firearm remained securely in place, without any rattling or movement. The ease of use was notable. I was able to quickly and reliably access the firearm after I got used to the motions of unlocking and releasing it.
The only surprise I encountered during the initial testing was the reach required to access the firearm from the driver’s seat. I had to adjust my seat slightly forward to comfortably reach the release mechanism. However, I quickly adapted to this minor adjustment.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of consistent use, the Tufloc Overhead Mount Vehicle Rack continues to perform flawlessly. It has proven to be a dependable and secure storage solution.
The rack has shown no signs of wear and tear despite being exposed to varying temperatures and conditions inside my vehicle. The locking mechanisms remain smooth and reliable, and the mounting hardware is as secure as the day I installed it. Regular cleaning and lubrication of the locking mechanism are all it requires to maintain like-new functionality.
Compared to other storage methods I’ve used in the past, such as unsecured cases or hidden compartments, the Tufloc far exceeds expectations in terms of security, accessibility, and peace of mind. It provides a level of protection and convenience that other methods simply cannot match. The Tufloc Overhead Mount Vehicle Rack truly shines by keeping the firearm secured and out of the way.
