Let’s Talk About Muddy Ambush Optifade Elev II Climbing Harness
The Muddy Ambush Optifade Elev II Climbing Harness represents a critical piece of safety equipment for the serious hunter. Specifically designed for tree stand hunting, this harness from Muddy aims to blend comfort, safety, and concealment. The inclusion of the Optifade Elevated II camo pattern is immediately appealing, promising to keep you virtually invisible in your elevated hunting position.
What drove me to the Muddy Ambush Optifade Elev II Climbing Harness was a renewed commitment to safety after a close call last season. I needed a harness that was comfortable enough for all-day sits, easy to use in the dark, and offered a reliable connection to the tree. Having used basic harnesses in the past, I wanted something that felt more secure and offered greater freedom of movement.
Upon unboxing, I was struck by the lightweight feel of the padded nylon construction. The Optifade Elevated II camo pattern looked great, and the overall build quality appeared solid. My initial impression was positive, the harness felt well-made and thoughtfully designed.
Compared to my previous harness, a generic model from a big box store, the Muddy Ambush Optifade Elev II Climbing Harness immediately felt superior. Others I considered were the Hunter Safety System Elite series, and the Summit Treestands Pro Safety Harness. The Muddy stood out because of the camo pattern and the promise of 360-degree movement, which seemed critical for making shots from any angle.
My first impression was excitement mixed with a bit of apprehension. Tree stand safety is paramount, and I wanted to be absolutely certain that this harness would deliver on its promises. The lightweight design and freedom of movement sparked anticipation for a more comfortable and safer hunting experience.
Real-World Testing: Putting Muddy Ambush Optifade Elev II Climbing Harness to the Test
First Use Experience
My first field test took place during an early season archery hunt in the hardwood forests of southern Ohio. I tested the Muddy Ambush Optifade Elev II Climbing Harness during a 5-hour sit in a hang-on stand. The conditions were relatively mild, around 60 degrees with a slight breeze.
The harness performed admirably in terms of comfort. The padded waist strap made a noticeable difference compared to my previous harness, reducing pressure points. Ease of use was also a plus, the quick-release buckles on the leg straps made it easy to get the harness on and off, even with bulky hunting clothes.
The only initial issue was figuring out the optimal adjustment for the elastic chest strap; it took a few tries to get it snug enough to keep the harness from shifting but not so tight that it restricted movement. Overall, the initial experience was quite positive.
Extended Use & Reliability
After three months of regular use, the Muddy Ambush Optifade Elev II Climbing Harness has held up well. There are no signs of significant wear and tear. The stitching remains intact, and the buckles still function smoothly.
Maintenance has been minimal; I simply wipe down the harness with a damp cloth after each hunt to remove dirt and debris. So far, the Muddy Ambush Optifade Elev II Climbing Harness outperforms my previous harness in terms of comfort, ease of use, and overall build quality. Its a solid product made by Muddy.
