Mission Crossbows Crossbow Sling Review

Let’s Talk About Mission Crossbows Crossbow Sling

The Mission Crossbows Crossbow Sling promises a comfortable and secure way to carry your crossbow, especially crucial during long treks or hunts. Mission Crossbows aims to provide a durable and reliable solution for crossbow enthusiasts. This review digs deep to see if this sling lives up to its promises.

I’ve spent years lugging crossbows through thick brush and steep terrain, and the need for a reliable sling is paramount. My current setup, a makeshift paracord arrangement, chafes and distributes weight poorly. A proper sling needs to be comfortable, secure, and easily adjustable.

Upon unboxing, the Mission Crossbows Crossbow Sling felt substantial. The neoprene nylon strap had a reassuring heft, and the rubberized backing felt grippy. The Manufacturer‘s decision to include quick-detach (QD) swivels was a welcome sight.

Compared to cheaper, generic slings I’ve tried, the Mission Crossbows Crossbow Sling immediately felt superior in build quality. I considered a padded leather sling, but opted for the neoprene nylon for its weather resistance and non-slip properties. I also looked at a more tactical, multi-point sling, but the simplicity of the Mission Crossbows Crossbow Sling appealed to my need for straightforward functionality.

My first impression was cautiously optimistic. The materials felt durable, and the design seemed practical, but the true test would be in the field. It remains to be seen if it can withstand the rigors of an actual hunt and provide lasting comfort.

Real-World Testing: Putting Mission Crossbows Crossbow Sling to the Test

First Use Experience

I tested the Mission Crossbows Crossbow Sling during a three-day deer hunt in the rugged hills of Pennsylvania. The weather conditions were variable, ranging from crisp mornings with light frost to a damp afternoon with a brief drizzle. I planned to evaluate how well the sling distributed the weight of my crossbow and whether the non-slip backing truly prevented unwanted movement.

The sling performed admirably, even when traversing steep inclines and navigating through dense undergrowth. Its fully adjustable design allowed me to customize the fit to comfortably accommodate both light and heavy layers of clothing. There were no unexpected slips or discomfort during the first day.

Initially, the QD swivels were a bit stiff, requiring a firm press to detach. With repeated use, however, they became easier to manipulate. The sling held its adjustment without loosening, even after hours of hiking.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of use, including multiple hunting trips and practice sessions at the range, the Mission Crossbows Crossbow Sling has proven to be remarkably durable. The neoprene nylon strap shows no signs of wear and tear. There are no fraying edges or loose stitching to report.

Cleaning the sling is straightforward. A quick wipe down with a damp cloth is usually sufficient to remove dirt and grime. I’ve applied a silicone-based protectant to the rubberized backing to further enhance its longevity.

Compared to my previous experiences with generic slings, the Mission Crossbows Crossbow Sling offers significantly improved comfort and stability. It consistently outperforms my old paracord setup, distributing the crossbow’s weight evenly across my shoulder and preventing it from shifting during movement. The Mission Crossbows Crossbow Sling gives me the confidence and comfort I need during those critical moments.
