Let’s Talk About Action Target Rimfire Dueling Tree
The Action Target Rimfire Dueling Tree promises hours of competitive shooting fun without the hassle of constantly resetting targets. This reactive target system, specifically designed for .22 rimfire ammunition, offers a gravity-resetting design that minimizes downtime and maximizes trigger time. As a seasoned gear specialist, I’ve seen countless target systems come and go, but the Action Target Rimfire Dueling Tree immediately piqued my interest with its simplicity and focus on rimfire enthusiasts.
I was looking for a portable and engaging target system to improve my pistol shooting skills. I also wanted something that could offer fun competitions during outdoor training sessions. When I saw the Action Target Rimfire Dueling Tree, I was drawn to its reactive design, which promised immediate feedback without the need to walk downrange.
Unboxing the Action Target Rimfire Dueling Tree, I was impressed with the robust construction. The AR500 steel paddles felt incredibly durable, while the overall design was simple and functional, even if the stand was basic steel. The weight of 35 lbs gave it a solid feel.
Compared to similar rimfire target systems that often rely on springs or complicated mechanisms, the Action Target Rimfire Dueling Tree‘s gravity-reset design felt more reliable and less prone to failure. Cheaper, spring-loaded options always seemed to break down quickly. I chose the Action Target Rimfire Dueling Tree due to its reputation for durability and its focus on consistent, maintenance-free operation.
My first impression was excitement mixed with a bit of skepticism. I was eager to put the Action Target Rimfire Dueling Tree to the test. Would it live up to the promise of hours of uninterrupted, reactive shooting fun?
Real-World Testing: Putting Action Target Rimfire Dueling Tree to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the Action Target Rimfire Dueling Tree at my local outdoor shooting range, setting it up on a flat, gravel surface at a distance of 25 yards. The conditions were sunny with a slight breeze, perfect for a relaxed shooting session. After a few initial shots to get a feel for the target, I started a friendly competition with a fellow shooter.
The Action Target Rimfire Dueling Tree performed flawlessly, with the paddles swinging reliably from side to side upon impact. Even with less-than-perfect shots, the paddles reacted predictably. The tree remained stable throughout the session.
The only minor issue I encountered was some splashback from the .22 rounds hitting the steel. Eye protection is absolutely essential.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of regular use, the Action Target Rimfire Dueling Tree has held up remarkably well. The AR500 steel paddles show no signs of damage, even after hundreds of rounds. The finish on the paddles has worn slightly, but this is purely cosmetic.
The stand and feet are the only areas that might need some extra attention down the road. The manual is very clear that these are not designed to withstand bullet impacts. I’ve been careful to avoid hitting them.
Maintenance is incredibly simple: a quick wipe down with a dry cloth is all that’s needed. The gravity-reset design means there are no springs or mechanisms to clean or lubricate. Compared to other target systems I’ve used, the Action Target Rimfire Dueling Tree is significantly more reliable and requires virtually no maintenance.
