Mojo Elite Series Green Wing Teal Decoy Review

Let’s Talk About Mojo Elite Series Green Wing Teal Decoy

The Mojo Elite Series Green Wing Teal Decoy promises to be a game-changer for waterfowl hunters, designed with a focus on realism and user-friendliness. Manufactured by Mojo, this decoy aims to mimic the natural movements of a Green Wing Teal, attracting ducks from afar. Its innovative design, featuring a streamlined structural housing and flexible body, sets it apart from traditional spinning wing decoys.

I was constantly frustrated with the bulkiness and noise of my older spinning wing decoys. I was hoping to find a quieter, more realistic decoy that would easily integrate into my spread. This product seemed to directly address those concerns with its promise of a quieter operation and improved design.

My initial impression upon unboxing was positive. The decoy felt lighter and more compact than my previous models. The flexible body had a realistic feel, and the overall build quality seemed solid, suggesting it could withstand the rigors of the field.

I compared it to a Lucky Duck Rapid Teal and an older Mojo Mallard. The Mojo Elite Series Green Wing Teal Decoy edged out the Lucky Duck due to its more compact design and the Mojo Mallard with its promises of quieter operation. I chose this model specifically for its enhanced realism and focus on quiet performance.

I was cautiously optimistic. While the design looked promising, I was eager to see how it would perform in real hunting conditions, particularly concerning battery life and its ability to withstand the elements.

Real-World Testing: Putting Mojo Elite Series Green Wing Teal Decoy to the Test

First Use Experience

I tested the Mojo Elite Series Green Wing Teal Decoy during an early-season teal hunt in a flooded rice field in Arkansas. The conditions were typical for that time of year: warm and humid, with a light breeze. I positioned the decoy approximately 20 yards from my blind, among a spread of static teal decoys.

The decoy performed exceptionally well in these conditions. The spinning wings immediately caught the attention of passing teal, and they locked onto our spread. Its movement remained consistent even with the gentle breeze, and the advertised quietness was immediately noticeable, a significant improvement over my older decoys.

The decoy was straightforward to set up and operate. I quickly inserted the batteries and attached the wings. No time was needed to familiarize myself with the decoy’s operation, which was a definite plus when setting up in the pre-dawn darkness.

I was pleasantly surprised by how effectively it attracted teal. My only concern arose when one teal decoy was shot, with the shot pellet pattern hitting the battery compartment. This made me consider how I would protect the unit from shot pellets during a hunt.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of use during the teal and early duck seasons, the Mojo Elite Series Green Wing Teal Decoy has held up remarkably well. Despite exposure to mud, rain, and some accidental bumps during transport, it shows minimal signs of wear and tear. The flexible body has proven surprisingly durable, resisting punctures and tears.

The decoy requires minimal maintenance. A quick wipe-down with a damp cloth after each hunt is usually sufficient to remove mud and debris. I have checked the battery contacts occasionally to ensure they remain clean and free of corrosion.

Compared to my previous decoys, the Mojo Elite Series Green Wing Teal Decoy outperforms them in several key areas. It’s quieter, more realistic in its movements, and appears to be more durable than older models. The battery life, while dependent on the quality of batteries used, has been satisfactory, typically lasting for two to three hunts before requiring replacement.
