Hawk Treestands Xtendible Cinch Gambrel Review

Let’s Talk About Hawk Treestands Xtendible Cinch Gambrel

The Hawk Treestands Xtendible Cinch Gambrel is a game-hanging device designed to simplify the process of field dressing and transporting game, both from a treestand and on the ground. Manufactured by Hawk Treestands, this gambrel boasts adjustable cinch cables, a compact collapsed size for easy storage, and a robust 450lb weight capacity. It promises versatility and ease of use for hunters targeting both small and large game.

I was tired of struggling with ropes and makeshift gambrels, especially when hunting solo. Finding a reliable and efficient way to hang and process deer in the field has been a recurring challenge, leading me to search for a dedicated solution like the Hawk Treestands Xtendible Cinch Gambrel.

Unboxing the Hawk Treestands Xtendible Cinch Gambrel, my first impression was that it felt surprisingly lightweight yet sturdy. The cinch cables appeared durable, and the overall design looked compact and practical for packing into my hunting gear.

Compared to simple rope gambrels or fixed-width metal spreaders, the Hawk Treestands Xtendible Cinch Gambrel offered the advantage of adjustable width and a cinch-based locking mechanism. I also considered the HME Products Gambrel and the Allen Company Deluxe Gambrel, but I was drawn to Hawk’s reputation for treestand accessories and the Xtendible Cinch Gambrel’s promise of a more secure and adaptable game-hanging solution.

Initially, I was optimistic but cautiously so. While the design appeared promising, I wanted to see how the cinch mechanism would perform with a substantial load and how easily it would adjust in real-world hunting conditions.

Real-World Testing: Putting Hawk Treestands Xtendible Cinch Gambrel to the Test

First Use Experience

My first opportunity to test the Hawk Treestands Xtendible Cinch Gambrel came during a whitetail hunt in the hardwoods of central Wisconsin. I used it to hang a harvested doe from a sturdy tree limb for field dressing.

The conditions were fairly dry, although the temperature hovered just above freezing. The Xtendible Cinch Gambrel was easy to deploy and adjust, even with gloved hands.

Using the cinch cables was far simpler than threading rope or fumbling with traditional gambrel hooks. I did notice that the cables required a bit of tension to fully lock into place, but once secured, they held the weight of the doe without any slippage.

Extended Use & Reliability

After a full hunting season of use, the Hawk Treestands Xtendible Cinch Gambrel has proven to be a reliable tool. It’s been used on multiple deer, ranging in size from small does to a mature buck.

There are no significant signs of wear and tear on the cinch cables or the frame. The Xtendible Cinch Gambrel is easy to clean with a simple rinse of water and a wipe-down.

Compared to my previous experiences with rope gambrels, the Hawk Treestands Xtendible Cinch Gambrel offers a more secure, efficient, and cleaner method for hanging game. It has definitely outperformed my expectations and streamlined the field dressing process.
