DeSantis C.H.A.M.P. Paddle Kit Review

Let’s Talk About DeSantis C.H.A.M.P. Paddle Kit

The DeSantis C.H.A.M.P. Paddle Kit is a simple yet potentially crucial accessory for anyone already using the DeSantis #128 C.H.A.M.P. Holster. This paddle attachment offers an alternative carry method, prioritizing convenience and quick on/off capability. For those familiar with DeSantis‘ reputation, this kit promises the same commitment to quality and functionality.

As an experienced gear specialist, I’m constantly evaluating different carry options for various firearms. I was looking for a way to make my C.H.A.M.P. holster more versatile, something that could easily transition between belt carry and a more relaxed, paddle-style carry for range days or casual outings.

My first impression upon receiving the DeSantis C.H.A.M.P. Paddle Kit was positive. The polymer felt robust and well-molded. I was eager to install it and see how it compared to other paddle attachments I’ve used from Safariland and Blade-Tech. While those other options cater to different holsters and needs (primarily Level II/III retention), I was curious if DeSantis offered a simpler, more streamlined solution for their C.H.A.M.P. holster. I felt a cautious optimism; hoping this kit would deliver on its promise of convenient carry.

Real-World Testing: Putting DeSantis C.H.A.M.P. Paddle Kit to the Test

First Use Experience

I initially tested the DeSantis C.H.A.M.P. Paddle Kit at my local shooting range during a practice session. The primary goal was to evaluate its comfort and stability while drawing and re-holstering my Glock 19. The weather was fairly mild, but I was sweating a bit from the activity.

The paddle design made it incredibly easy to slip the holster on and off without removing my belt. I did notice a slight rocking motion during some rapid draws. This was easily mitigated by tightening my belt. After a few adjustments, I found a comfortable position that allowed for a smooth draw.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of regular use, the DeSantis C.H.A.M.P. Paddle Kit has held up surprisingly well. There are no signs of cracking or deformation in the polymer, even after repeated use and adjustments. The kit is easy to wipe down with a damp cloth after a day at the range.

Compared to some other paddle attachments I’ve used, the DeSantis kit is less bulky and more streamlined. I find it to be a comfortable and practical option for range days. It may not be my first choice for serious tactical scenarios, but it’s perfect for convenient, everyday carry when I don’t want to thread a belt through the loops.
