Let’s Talk About Weaver Multi Slot Savage Target Tact La 20 Moa
The Weaver Multi Slot Savage Target Tact La 20 Moa base is a crucial component for any serious long-range shooter utilizing a Savage rifle. Manufactured by Weaver, this Picatinny-style rail offers enhanced mounting options and a built-in 20 MOA cant for extended range optic adjustments. I first encountered this base while assisting a friend in setting up his precision rifle. He was struggling to achieve the necessary elevation for consistent hits at distances beyond 600 yards.
I was searching for a solution to extend the effective range of my Savage 110 Tactical in .308 Winchester without sacrificing optical clarity or requiring extreme turret adjustments on my scope. I wanted a sturdy, reliable base that would provide a solid platform for my optic and allow me to reach out to 1000 yards and beyond.
Unboxing the Weaver Multi Slot Savage Target Tact La 20 Moa, I was immediately impressed by the robust construction and clean finish. The matte black anodized finish looked durable and the machining was precise. It felt solid in my hand, reassuring me of its quality and ability to withstand the recoil of my rifle.
Compared to standard flat bases, the Weaver Multi Slot Savage Target Tact La 20 Moa offered a clear advantage with its integrated 20 MOA cant. I considered a similar base from EGW, but Weaver’s reputation and the slightly lower price point swayed my decision. I also looked at a one-piece scope mount, but decided to stick with a base and rings for greater mounting flexibility.
My initial impression was overwhelmingly positive. I was excited to install the Weaver Multi Slot Savage Target Tact La 20 Moa and see how it improved my long-range shooting capabilities. It promised to be the perfect solution to my elevation limitations and provide a stable platform for my scope.
Real-World Testing: Putting Weaver Multi Slot Savage Target Tact La 20 Moa to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the Weaver Multi Slot Savage Target Tact La 20 Moa at my local shooting range, which has steel targets out to 1,000 yards. The weather was clear and calm, providing ideal conditions for long-range shooting. Installation was straightforward using the provided Torx screws.
The integrated 20 MOA cant immediately allowed me to zero my rifle at 100 yards with my scope’s elevation turret nearly at its optical center. This meant I had significantly more upward adjustment available for longer distances. After zeroing, I moved out to 600 yards and then 800 yards. The base performed flawlessly, maintaining zero and providing a stable platform as I engaged targets at varying distances.
There were no surprises or issues during my first use. The Weaver Multi Slot Savage Target Tact La 20 Moa performed exactly as expected, allowing me to easily reach targets I previously struggled with. The extra forward length provided by the multi-slot design also allowed for optimal eye relief adjustment.

After several months of consistent use, the Weaver Multi Slot Savage Target Tact La 20 Moa has proven to be incredibly reliable. I’ve used it in various weather conditions, including rain and temperatures ranging from 30 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. It has held zero consistently, even after hundreds of rounds fired.
There are no signs of wear and tear on the base itself. The anodized finish is holding up well, and the screws remain tight. Cleaning is simple; a quick wipe-down with a lightly oiled cloth is all that’s needed to maintain its condition.
The Weaver Multi Slot Savage Target Tact La 20 Moa significantly outperforms the factory rail that came with my Savage rifle. The added elevation and stability have improved my accuracy and confidence at long range. It’s a worthwhile upgrade that has truly enhanced my shooting experience.
