Trophy Hunting Products Ol Mallard Seat Review

Let’s Talk About Trophy Hunting Products Ol Mallard Seat

The Trophy Hunting Products Ol Mallard Seat promises comfort and convenience for the dedicated hunter, especially those who spend long hours waiting for their quarry. Offered by Trophy Hunting Products, it aims to provide a lightweight and portable seating solution with integrated storage, an appealing combination for anyone tired of lugging around bulky gear. This seat sparked my interest as someone who frequently hunts waterfowl from less-than-ideal locations, needing a comfortable and quiet option for extended sits.

My main problem was finding a seat that was both easily portable and provided enough comfort for all-day hunts. Existing options were either too heavy, uncomfortable, or lacked essential storage. Unboxing the Ol Mallard Seat, I immediately noticed its seemingly durable construction and lightweight design. The advertised internal storage compartments also intrigued me.

Compared to other hunting seats I’ve used, such as the Millennium Treestands G200 or the ALPS OutdoorZ Tri-Leg Stool, the Ol Mallard Seat stood out due to its promise of integrated storage. While the Millennium offers great comfort but lacks portability, the ALPS stool is portable but offers minimal comfort. The Trophy Hunting Products Ol Mallard Seat seemed to strike a balance between the two.

My first impressions were positive. The seat felt sturdy despite its light weight, and the adjustable shoulder strap seemed convenient. I was eager to test its comfort and storage capacity in a real hunting scenario.

Real-World Testing: Putting Trophy Hunting Products Ol Mallard Seat to the Test

First Use Experience

I first tested the Trophy Hunting Products Ol Mallard Seat on a week-long duck hunting trip in the flooded timber of Arkansas. I spent several hours each day sitting on the seat, waiting for ducks to fly within range. The weather varied from cold and wet to relatively mild and sunny.

The seat performed admirably in these conditions. It provided a stable and surprisingly comfortable platform, even on uneven ground. I found the internal storage compartments incredibly useful for storing essential gear like extra shells, calls, and snacks, keeping everything within easy reach. No time was wasted looking around for gear.

Initially, I didn’t need much time to get used to the seat. The adjustable shoulder strap made carrying it to and from the hunting location effortless. One minor issue arose during the wet days. The seat material, while durable, did tend to retain moisture.

Extended Use & Reliability

After a full hunting season of consistent use, the Trophy Hunting Products Ol Mallard Seat has held up remarkably well. There are no significant signs of wear and tear. The stitching remains intact, and the seat cushion has retained its shape and comfort.

Maintenance is straightforward. A quick wipe down with a damp cloth is usually all that’s needed to clean the seat. I haven’t noticed any fading or discoloration of the material, even after prolonged exposure to the sun. The materials have held up.

Compared to previous hunting seats I’ve used, the Ol Mallard Seat definitely outperforms in terms of portability and integrated storage. While some higher-end seats might offer slightly more cushioning, the Trophy Hunting Products Ol Mallard Seat provides an excellent balance of comfort, convenience, and durability at a reasonable price point.
