Let’s Dive into BCY Power Grip Serving
Archery is a game of precision, and the smallest details can make or break a shot. The BCY Power Grip Serving is designed to be one of those details that elevates performance. BCY is a well-known manufacturer in the archery world, and their serving thread promises exceptional durability and grip.
I was struggling with serving separation on my hunting bow after only a few months of use. The serving was constantly shifting, impacting my peep sight alignment and overall accuracy. This issue led me to search for a higher-quality serving material that could withstand the rigors of regular practice and hunting conditions.
Upon receiving the BCY Power Grip Serving, I was immediately impressed by the texture and feel. It felt significantly more robust than the serving material I had been using. The resin coating gave it a slightly tacky feel, suggesting excellent grip. It looked well-made and ready to be put to work.
I considered using Angel Majesty serving thread, but the price was significantly higher. I also looked at Brownell Diamondback serving. The BCY Power Grip Serving struck a better balance between cost and purported durability. I was hoping for a noticeable improvement in serving life and overall performance, and my initial excitement was high.
Real-World Testing: Putting BCY Power Grip Serving to the Test
First Use Experience
I installed the BCY Power Grip Serving on my compound bow at my local archery pro shop. The shop technician commented on the quality of the thread as he worked. I then headed to the outdoor range to put it through its paces. The weather was slightly damp, adding another variable to the test.
The initial feel was fantastic. The BCY Power Grip Serving created a secure and consistent feel on the string. My peep sight remained perfectly aligned even after repeated shots. I immediately noticed an improvement in confidence.
No issues arose during that first session. The serving held up well under the constant friction of the cams and string guides. I was already feeling like this was a step up.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of consistent shooting, the BCY Power Grip Serving has continued to impress. It’s been through dry conditions and a few light rain showers during practice. The serving remains tightly wound. There are no signs of significant wear.
After several months, I noticed only minimal fraying around the edges of the serving near the cam. This is to be expected with any serving material. The resin coating seems to be holding up well. The serving hasn’t shifted or separated, maintaining my peep sight alignment.
Compared to my previous serving material, the BCY Power Grip Serving is far superior. The added durability has drastically reduced the need for constant adjustments and replacements. It gives me peace of mind knowing my serving is reliable in the field.
Breaking Down the Features of BCY Power Grip Serving
Specifications
The BCY Power Grip Serving is a blend of tightly braided spectra and nylon yarn. This combination provides excellent strength and durability. A resin coating is added to enhance grip and prevent slippage. It is available in three different diameters: .018″, .021″/.025″, and .032″.
The .018 diameter is typically used for end servings. The .021″/.025″ diameters are used for center servings on standard bows. The .032″ diameter is specifically designed for crossbow center servings.
The spectra component contributes high tensile strength to withstand the constant stress and friction. The nylon adds abrasion resistance and flexibility. The resin coating ensures the serving stays securely in place and offers added protection against wear. These features directly translate to a longer-lasting and more reliable serving, ultimately improving shooting consistency and accuracy.
