High Speed Gear Triple Taco Shingle Rifle Magazine Pouches Review

Let’s Dive into High Speed Gear Triple Taco Shingle Rifle Magazine Pouches

The High Speed Gear Triple Taco Shingle Rifle Magazine Pouches are a modular magazine carriage solution designed to adapt to a variety of rifle platforms. Manufactured by High Speed Gear, these pouches promise to eliminate the need for multiple mag pouch types by accommodating nearly any rifle caliber, shotgun shells, and even some less conventional items. These Triple Taco Shingle Rifle Magazine Pouches aim for the sweet spot of versatility, durability, and accessibility in a single package.

For years, I’ve struggled with the clutter and inflexibility of dedicated magazine pouches. Juggling AR-15, AR-10, and even AK magazines meant swapping pouches on my plate carrier every range trip, a time-consuming and frankly annoying process. I needed a universal solution.

My first impression upon unboxing was positive. The build quality appeared robust, the materials felt heavy-duty, and the tension adjustment cords seemed promising. This was a step up from some of the flimsy, budget-friendly universal pouches I’d experimented with in the past.

I considered the Blue Force Gear Ten-Speed M4 Triple Mag Pouch and the Esstac KYWI Triple 5.56 Midlength Pouch. While the Blue Force Gear offered a low profile, I was concerned about long-term durability with heavier magazines. The Esstac KYWI, while known for excellent retention, wasn’t as versatile as the High Speed Gear Triple Taco Shingle Rifle Magazine Pouches in terms of magazine compatibility.

I was definitely excited. The potential to streamline my gear setup and accommodate a wider range of firearms was compelling. If these pouches lived up to the hype, they would be a game-changer.

Real-World Testing: Putting High Speed Gear Triple Taco Shingle Rifle Magazine Pouches to the Test

First Use Experience

My initial testing took place at an outdoor shooting range, simulating a practical rifle competition environment. I loaded the High Speed Gear Triple Taco Shingle Rifle Magazine Pouches with a mix of AR-15 5.56 magazines, AR-10 .308 magazines, and even a few AK-47 7.62×39 magazines. I wanted to see how the pouches performed under varied load conditions.

The weather was dry and dusty, typical for our local range. The Triple Taco Shingle Rifle Magazine Pouches performed admirably; the magazines remained securely in place even during rapid movement and simulated reloads. No slippage or accidental ejections occurred.

The ease of use was immediately apparent. Adjusting the tension cords allowed me to fine-tune the retention for each magazine type, ensuring a snug but not overly tight fit. It took only a few minutes to dial in the perfect balance. There were no major issues to speak of, other than becoming accustomed to reaching into the pouch without a traditional flap or cover, and developing the muscle memory for a consistent draw.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of consistent use, the High Speed Gear Triple Taco Shingle Rifle Magazine Pouches have held up remarkably well. I’ve used them in various training exercises, from simple range drills to more dynamic force-on-force scenarios.

The pouches show minimal signs of wear and tear. The Heavy-Duty Nylon Laminate construction has proven to be incredibly durable, with no fraying, tearing, or stitching issues. The Shock Cord retention system still provides consistent tension, and the Injection Molded Polymer Brackets remain firmly attached.

Maintenance is straightforward. A quick wipe down with a damp cloth is all that’s needed to remove dust and dirt. I haven’t needed to perform any repairs or adjustments, which speaks to the quality of the construction.

Compared to my previous experiences with dedicated magazine pouches, the High Speed Gear Triple Taco Shingle Rifle Magazine Pouches are a significant improvement. The versatility and durability far outweigh the slightly higher price point. These pouches consistently outperform expectations, providing reliable and adaptable magazine retention in any situation.
