Let’s Dive into Condor Outdoor Zipper Strip 2pcs per Pack
The Condor Outdoor Zipper Strip 2pcs per Pack offers a simple yet potentially crucial upgrade to compatible tactical vests and plate carriers. Made by Condor Outdoor, these zipper strips aim to provide enhanced security and organization for items stored in front map pockets. As someone who has relied on tactical gear for over a decade, I’m always looking for practical enhancements that increase efficiency and reduce potential gear failures in the field.
I was searching for a way to secure sensitive documents and small tools within my plate carrier’s map pocket without relying on hook and loop closures. The constant ripping of hook and loop can be noisy and wear out over time. I needed a solution that offered quick access with reliable closure.
My first impression upon unboxing was that these strips were surprisingly robust for their size and price. The YKK zippers appeared durable, and the fabric seemed capable of withstanding moderate wear. The stitching was clean and precise, suggesting a decent level of quality control.
I considered options like adding custom pouches or using aftermarket zipper kits. However, the Condor Outdoor Zipper Strip 2pcs per Pack seemed like a straightforward and cost-effective solution designed specifically for Condor’s ecosystem. I picked this option for its simplicity and ease of integration.
My initial excitement was tempered by some user reviews indicating potential fitment issues with certain Condor plate carrier models. I was cautiously optimistic, hoping that the strips would integrate seamlessly with my setup. I was eager to see if these inexpensive zipper strips would truly add practical utility to my existing gear.
Real-World Testing: Putting Condor Outdoor Zipper Strip 2pcs per Pack to the Test
First Use Experience
I initially tested the Condor Outdoor Zipper Strip 2pcs per Pack on my Condor Defender Plate Carrier during a training session at a local shooting range. The weather was mild and dry, providing ideal conditions for assessing the strips’ functionality. I used one strip to secure a small notepad and pen and the other for a multi-tool.
The installation was easy, although I did encounter a slight length issue similar to what some users had reported. The strip was a bit too long for the map pocket, requiring me to fold the end inwards slightly. Despite this minor inconvenience, the zippers worked smoothly, providing a secure closure.
My first surprise was how much quieter it was to access the contents of the map pocket compared to hook and loop. I no longer had to worry about making noise when retrieving items in a potentially sensitive situation. The zippered closure gave me a noticeable peace of mind.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of use during both range sessions and a weekend-long camping trip, the Condor Outdoor Zipper Strip 2pcs per Pack has held up reasonably well. The zippers continue to function smoothly. There’s no sign of fraying or damage to the fabric.
I’ve noticed minimal wear and tear, even after repeated use and exposure to light rain. The strips have proven to be relatively easy to clean, requiring just a quick wipe-down with a damp cloth. I have no signs of damage so far.
Compared to relying solely on the hook and loop closure of the map pocket, these zipper strips offer a significant improvement in security and peace of mind. While not a revolutionary upgrade, they provide a tangible benefit. They provide a real sense of security. They instill confidence.
