Hiviz Litewave Front Sight For Ruger Redhawk/srh Review

Let’s Dive into Hiviz Litewave Front Sight For Ruger Redhawk/srh

The Hiviz Litewave Front Sight For Ruger Redhawk/srh is a simple upgrade that can dramatically improve the accuracy and visibility of your revolver. Made by Hiviz, a name synonymous with quality aftermarket sights, this front sight promises better target acquisition, especially in low-light conditions. Its interchangeable LitePipes offer versatility and adaptability to different shooting scenarios, and it comes at a price point that won’t break the bank.

For years, I struggled with the stock sights on my Ruger Redhawk. My aging eyes found it increasingly difficult to quickly acquire a clear sight picture, especially during dawn and dusk hunts. This sight promised a solution: brighter, more visible, and easily interchangeable inserts to suit any lighting condition.

Upon opening the package, I was immediately impressed with the solid feel of the sight. The metal construction felt robust and durable, while the included LitePipes—red, green, and white—offered a noticeable brightness. Comparing it to other fiber optic sights I’ve used, the Hiviz felt like a more premium, well-built product.

Initially, I was excited about the potential for improved visibility, but also a little apprehensive about whether it would truly make a difference in my accuracy. The factory front sight was simply a black blade and I chose the Hiviz Litewave Front Sight For Ruger Redhawk/srh because of the higher visibility and the brand’s reputation. I was eager to find out if this relatively inexpensive upgrade could bring my Redhawk back to its former glory.

Real-World Testing: Putting Hiviz Litewave Front Sight For Ruger Redhawk/srh to the Test

First Use Experience

I took my Redhawk, now equipped with the Hiviz Litewave Front Sight For Ruger Redhawk/srh, to my local shooting range for an initial test. I wanted to assess its performance under controlled conditions before taking it out into the field. The range offered both indoor and outdoor lanes, allowing me to experiment with different lighting scenarios.

The Hiviz sight excelled outdoors, even under overcast skies. I swapped between the red and green LitePipes, finding that the green provided the best contrast against the dark targets. There was a learning curve as I got used to focusing solely on the bright dot. Initial shots were slightly off, but I quickly adjusted my hold and started grouping significantly tighter than with the original sights.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of regular use, the Hiviz Litewave Front Sight For Ruger Redhawk/srh has proven to be a reliable and worthwhile upgrade. It’s been through several range sessions, a couple of hunting trips, and even some informal plinking in the woods. The sight shows no signs of wear or loosening.

Cleaning is simple; a quick wipe with a lightly oiled cloth keeps everything looking and functioning smoothly. Compared to the frustration I experienced with the original sights, the Hiviz has been a joy to use. I’m much more confident in my ability to quickly and accurately acquire targets, even in challenging conditions.

Breaking Down the Features of Hiviz Litewave Front Sight For Ruger Redhawk/srh

Specifications

The Hiviz Litewave Front Sight For Ruger Redhawk/srh is designed specifically for Ruger Redhawk and Super Redhawk revolvers. It features a sturdy metal construction and comes with three interchangeable LitePipes in red, green, and white. The sight is finished in a matte black to reduce glare and maintain a low profile.

The interchangeable LitePipes are the key to its versatility. The different colors offer varying levels of visibility depending on the ambient light. This is a critical consideration for hunters and shooters who operate in diverse environments.

Performance & Functionality

The primary function of the Hiviz Litewave Front Sight For Ruger Redhawk/srh is to enhance target acquisition and improve shooting accuracy. It does this exceptionally well. The bright, easy-to-see LitePipe provides a clear focal point, allowing for faster and more precise aiming.

The strength lies in its simplicity and effectiveness, though it does take a bit to get used to ignoring the rear sights and focusing only on the front sight dot. A weakness is that a few users have said that the LitePipes, which can be replaced, sometimes fall out during use, though I have not encountered this issue. Overall, it meets and exceeds expectations for a drop-in front sight upgrade.

Design & Ergonomics

The Hiviz Litewave Front Sight For Ruger Redhawk/srh is designed with both functionality and aesthetics in mind. The matte black finish complements the look of the Ruger Redhawk, and the sight’s low profile doesn’t interfere with holstering or handling. The weight is negligible, so there is no need to be concerned with added weight to the firearm.

The rounded edges prevent snagging and ensure a comfortable grip. The design is user-friendly, with a simple installation process and intuitive operation.

Durability & Maintenance

The metal construction of the Hiviz Litewave Front Sight For Ruger Redhawk/srh ensures excellent durability. It is built to withstand the rigors of regular use and exposure to the elements. With minimal care, this sight should last for many years.

Maintenance is straightforward. A quick cleaning with a soft cloth after each shooting session is all that’s needed to keep it in optimal condition.

Accessories and Customization Options

The Hiviz Litewave Front Sight For Ruger Redhawk/srh comes with three interchangeable LitePipes, allowing users to customize the sight picture to their preferences. While it doesn’t directly support other accessories, it integrates seamlessly with the existing Ruger Redhawk platform. This means that you can still use your preferred holsters and other accessories without any compatibility issues.

Users should note that although the LitePipes can be easily replaced, they are proprietary to Hiviz and not universally interchangeable with other brands. It is always a good idea to purchase an extra set of LitePipes for a small additional cost in case the current set is lost or damaged.
